If the only trade options are Van or Bos I doubt we need boeser.
- Retinalz

I doubt there are only 2 teams on OEL's list. It's going to take a player like Boeser, a D prospect like OJ and a 1st. I don't doubt this.

I hear Barrie's name being still mentioned too.
- VANTEL

God no please. OEL isnt one dimensional at least. Barrie will probably be 1.5- 2 mil cheaper though.

I'm not his biggest fan but I'd rather trade for the affordable Dumba instead of OEL or signing Barrie. Dumba has reasonable salary and cap hit. Give up lesser assets for the trade. Has a bit of a mean streak. Right shot and probably has a run of career years beside Hughes.

I know Dumba may not be as good as Tanev defensively(but still better than Myers, Edler) but he has offensive ability, plays physical and stays reasonably healthy. That is still a decent upgrade over Tanev and wont be tying the Canucks down with a 7 year deal at 8 plus like OEL.

Bad move. Left D is not even a priority. Outrageous salary and term. Myers wont go. Edler still here. Right shooter still needed and not just a hole plugger.

Bos and Van were reported as the only two teams, with Vsn being preferred.

I’m in. Hughes, OEL and Edler on the left, who cares about the right. But they need to take salary back And I wouldn’t include a highe end prospect. Sutter, baertchi, OJ AND 2021 1st. Ideally they eat a bit of salary but it sounds like a non starter. Edler replaces by Rathbone next year which creates cap room for the big guns

I think people can dream that OEL will come this way via a Ehrhoff type cap dump but it's highly unlikely he is let go for anything significantly under market value.

JV as the big piece is not realistic at all. Boeser is a decent cap hit. You'd have to assume the yotes are looking for a impact player with a reasonable salary or why would they bother?

To get out of paying a 30 year old 8.25 million for 7 years. Isn't this the same team that isn't paying their players on time?

Sutter and Beartchi? Canucks would have to pay to move those players. They have negative trade value. The yotes could potentially come out of this trade with only the pick as OJ is not guaranteed and the other two players are trash and equal near OEL salary next season...

If the Canucks are going to have 2 D that play near 25 min a night(Hughes does), then maybe they should be the same pairing...

I think it would be a mistake for the Canucks to pay a 30 year old 8.25 for the next 7 years as well. Canucks should only be considering that kind of salary for a elite D who just entered his prime. 26 years old ish...

Don't be surprised if the yotes trade with someone other than Van or Bos. Hockey rumors are correct less than 5% of the time.

In 2 seasons, that would be aprox 15 mil for one pairing and OEL on the back slope of his career.

OEL definitely has some premium years left but cap hit and age are a problem.

Look at a lesser deal like Dumba... 26 years old, 3 years left @6mil, will certainly improve offensively once off the horrible Wild.

OEL is a July b-day so he is 29 for the next season , and paired properly , can easily have a solid 5-6 yrs . Like Button said , Nik Lidstrom won his first Norris after 30 so a smart , skilled dman can still play

This and his ability to control trade destination is why he won't cost a premium like BB but a Dumba deal would.

If OEL will go for less than Dumba like so many think, then it's a no brainer but I'm not one of those people who think OEL will go as a cap dump steal. Yotes may want salary off the books but they would be stupid to let him go for very little value in return. Not going to happen.
