I hadn't watched a lot of canucks games until this past year (fun team) so didn't see Baertschi much with him being down in the A all year. What's the deal with him? Seemed like his career was moving along nicely, flirting with 20 goals a year and then sent down for a whole season?

Do you not see him coming back to the NHL? or maybe on another team?

thanks

He’s a tweener. If he can’t make the top six he can’t really slide into the bottom six. Makes too much money. Concussion history.

He’s an NHLer though, or at least was. If a team has an opening he could fill it reasonably well until a better option comes along.

Agreed, Miller wasn't necessarily the one on the market, the Canucks targeted him

I would of preferred him in the lineup over Eriksson, Sutter and Beagle but he's obviously not going to replace a C. No idea how Louie "beat" him out for a spot.

Perfectly fine with that if/when Marky walks. Lundqvist on a short term, smaller cap hit number.

Would prefer Holtby in that roll, but Lundqvist would be fine too.

"One staffer the Lightning could lose: assistant director of amateur scouting Darryl Plandowski. Arizona is hot for him to run its department with Ryan Jankowski."

Surprised no one brought up the Canucks as needing to grab him.

Shambles

I was hoping the Canucks would poach a top scout from Tampa or Anaheim

Wouldn’t King Henry be chasing that cup tho?
I’d wager Colorado, Dallas or even Vegas might give him a better opportunity.

Quinn Hughes was revealed to be in the top 10 fastest skaters in NHL 21
- NorthNuck

No shock there he basically skated better than 80% of league when he got in lol

But how did he end up behind Johnny Hockey in the rankings?

He was healthy last year . He put up good numbers in Utica . Canucks could use him as a third line player for half a year until Podkolzen is finished his contract. He is already part of the payroll .

It does have a certain Ryan Miller aura to it, no?
Definitely within JB’s roster management handbook.

I wonder if mentorship amongst players is really that prevalent in pro-sports.

But signing long term reliable Markstrom to a long term NMC in the later years of his career has a definite Mick Gillis management handbook. I will go with door No1

It's a factor but probably not as important as some may think.

If it's true Markstrom wants 7 mil per then he can walk and we can roll the dice with Demko. Personally I'm worried about Markstrom's Ongoing groin issues. Canucks invested 5 years in Markstrom so it would suck to see him walk but I think we would be ok with Demko and a capable backup.

I never once looked at Markstrom as our franchise goalie. I always though of him as the guy keeping the net warm until someone is ready.

TBH, I think we need to stop comparing the two. Both have/had completely different approaches as GMs.

It might be complete BS but I heard rumblings that Marky’s injury during the playoffs had more to do with his head than body and that’s one of the reasons why his contract extension is not a slam dunk.

I’m more than happy giving Demko his shot even if it doesn’t result in playoff success. I’m much more patient with youth than I am with vets.

Or maybe people have run out of things to talk about? Kind of like what’s happened in here.
