I haven't seen the kid play but I am scared to death whenever I hear that someone has average skating.
- Slump Buster

That's been found, through multiple analysis pieces done, to be the largest mistaken reason a team can make when not drafting a player, as it's the biggest improvement area for almost all players when they become professionals.

It's why Brayden Point wasn't drafted earlier, as most said his skating wasn't good enough, and there are innumerable other examples of that.

AA is am example in the inverse. Guy skates fantastically, but can't produce or play well.

it was holtz...but here's what corey pronman said about rossi's skating

Rossi is a good skater, and you’ve seen in the video he does have some quickness, but for a 5-foot-9 player, I’d argue it’s not the elite quickness you’d typically like for a small player who is projected to be a very good NHL player.

He is very elusive with the puck, showing great edge work, a strong first step and overall ability to elude checks.

I would say he lacks truly dangerous NHL-level rink-length speed to pull away from guys or turn the corner on NHL defensemen.

His skating won’t hold him back from becoming a good NHL player, but if you ask why I don’t think such a highly skilled, intelligent, competitive and productive player is a no doubt star, it would be because of his skating.

- Michael Pachla

Time and time again proven productive players are picked much lower than they should be due to perceived skating issues, while guys who can skate better but produce very little are taken higher, while skating is the single biggest improvement a player can make when becoming a professional.

If we're talking about Rossi, tallest I've seen him listed is 5'9.

Some sites have Rossi listed at 5'9.5.

I haven't seen him actually listed at 5'8 anywhere.

Who gives a (frank)? Can he play? should be the only question you should be asking. Martin St Louis was like 5'2" and he was built like a brick poophouse. Even going back to the era dominated by the Derian Hatchers of the world you have Theo Fleury who was like 5'6" and maybe 175lbs.

This was my point. 5'8 vs 5'9 is six of one and half dozen of the other.

Rossi is fantastic. The Sabres would be lucky for him to be available when they pick.

Hey,

Jumping in again. I've seen quite a range of salary projections for Reinhart. I thinking evolving wild predicted $9*8yrs, $6.7-7.1*5yrs.

I read an interesting article predicting RNH next contract.
Jason Greger suggests he should only be getting $6-6.5*6yrs .

I think there are a lot of parallels between Reinhart and RNH. One being their stats are inflated by playing with elite centers.

If Nuge were to get $6.5 AAV. I don't think Reinhart should get more than that.

- NEDinED

That writer seems more interested in trying to minimize what he's worth than actually determining what he's worth. He'll just be turning 28 next offseason

If Kevin Hayes got $7.1, RNH isn't taking $6.5 unless he really wants to be in edmonton

Someone will give RNH $8+ imo

That said, I also dont think there's a chance in hell the Sabres give Reinhart $9m. I think theyll go shorter term to drive salary down

8x7.25M
7x7M
6x6.5M
5x6M
4x5.75M
3x5.55M

Or he takes his arbitration award. I don’t know how those line up with the projections from
Capfriendly/Evolving Hockey but that’s what my contract offers would be for Sam depending on each year of term.

I would offer him 5 years $6M per myself.

Steve Urbanski asks: Which player would you be concerned about having on the opening-night roster?

LL: Vladimir Sobotka, who skated on the second line at the start of last season. Krueger did not hide his admiration for Sobotka, who can play center or wing and has a strong track record on the penalty kill. Sobotka, a pending unrestricted free agent, doesn’t provide much of anything on offense. It’s time to move on.

I swear on everything that is holy, if they bring him back I will TP the KBC plaza

You just cant replace that kind of production off your second line 3 points in 16 games. Who could replace that those 15-20 points over the course of a 82 game season? Sorry guys McD,Drais,Mack aren't on the market to make up for this loss
