Everyone rips on Sobotka, and he's not the flashiest of players, but Skinner played his best hockey when Sobotka was at wing with him last year. - Buff36
Said it all last year, the point total didn't dictate it but the MoJo - Pod Racer - Skinner line was a good chemistry line. Pod Racer did all the dirty work MoJo/Skinner couldn't/wouldn't do and it worked. Basically what I'm saying is Kucherov stole that stanley cup from the Sabres when he low balled DPR. |

You and your facts. Play along 36. - Boss34
Well they played 15 games together before Sobotka got hurt in the Tampa series over in Sweden. Skinner scored 7 goals in those 15 games. And then boy wonder scored 7 more in what 50 games or so after. Tells me they were having a little success together. |

I like the list, I mean I could do without miller but the contract is nice.
I almost think Risto is in the same ball park, hes more costly then hes worth but hes more valuable then what we would get back. - hubie
Is he worth more than the combination of what they would get back in return plus what they would add with the freed up cap space? |

Do you really think that 15 game stretch was sustainable for the entire season, or even half the season? |

What makes you so sure it wouldn't? Wouldn't be the first time a bottom 6 guy got top 6 minutes and found success due to chemistry. |

I didn't actually see his height listed, I just knew he was short (And since I'm 5'9 and look, I just put 5'8, because he shouldn't be taller then me and about to become a millionaire doing something other then posting pics for old men to look at.) - SDSabre
lol poor grebe... at least he had that sure bet last night!! |

I don't think so, but can you say it would not have been. Hey definitely need a upgrade on line 2, but he was doing his job at the time and Skinner was scoring goals. |

Personally, no I don't think so. We would get say a mid 6 winger and either a late 1 or early 2. IM tired of waiting I don't want another rebuild lets play for 3 years down the line.
Risto eats mins gives toughness. Is he over paid for what he does.. yes but would I deal him for a mojo type guy no I wouldn't.

Due to Sobotka's last few years of production combined with Johansson playing Center on that line and how that was never a permanent fix. |

Well no poop, but like I said LAST YEAR, they played 15 games together before Sobotka got hurt and Skinner had 7 goals, and then boy wonder basically disappeared. - Buff36
You attribute those goals to Sobotka despite the fact that he had a whopping 2 assists in 16 games?
I find it more likely that Skinner overcame poor linemates for a short stretch |

Yes, I can definitively say it would not have lasted.
Johansson was not a long term answer at Center and Sobotka was not going to keep up with that line based on his past few years of play. |

I think my point is I don't care if DPR got 8/10 goals if he did what needed to be done to help Skinner get 30 away from Jack. Add in Mojo's 15/20, you're looking at 60 goals from a second line. Top line getting 90, pretty solid top 6. Agreed, not a permanent fix though. |

He eats minutes while often playing badly and putting the team in undesirable situations, i.e. in their own zone and giving up too many quality chances.
More importantly, he has this coming season and one more left on his deal. He will be turning 28 when his next deal begins, and he will have a TON of minutes mileage under his belt.
Do you want to extend him? If not, waiting until next offseason, or worse, next trade deadline would be a very bad idea considering you are absolutely going to get the most for him right now with him having 2 full seasons left on his current deal.
The time is now to either poop or get off the pot, as the saying goes with Ristolainen, but they won't because Ralph loves him. |

If I can put a .25 in the meter on this one...… if he was so bad why is he only a -2? There was 1 D man who had a better +- than him. We all know im not a numbers or spelling guy but ive heard that plus minus is an important statistical equation
Edit: Found another .25... he was second in points.. so if hes soo bad why is he 2nd in +- and 2nd in points? Could we get a guy back for him to fit those two spots? |

There’s no denying he played sig better in 19/20 then 18/19. Was almost night and day. But he’s best as a #4 and coaches always see all the physical tools he has and fall in love |

So he was doing his job in the corners and along the boards, something Skinner didn't have to do. Never said they were the best linemates, but at that time it was working. |

Adam Gosse asks: Do you think the Sabres re-signing Curtis Lazar means Johan Larsson has played his last game in Buffalo?
LL: Not necessarily. It would be a mistake for the Sabres to pencil in Lazar as a full-time player in 2020-21. Although he’s an excellent presence in the dressing room and provided reliable play away from the puck, he did not produce enough in the offensive zone for me to walk away from Larsson.
The Sabres will make a push to retain Larsson and they have the cap space to pay him what he desires, but it’s possible he’s ready for a fresh start elsewhere. Adams will need Krueger to make a strong sales pitch here. Despite his detractors, Larsson proved last season that he has the talent to skate alongside Skinner on the second line.
2C Larry! Lance is on fire! WOOOOOOO

What's that stupid movie line about thinking youre out, and then they pull you back in.

+\- isn’t really a good stat tbh. It’s a team stat more then anything that shows if your team as a whole is good at 5v5. For example, Risto could have stood at the blue line for 3 min while the forwards cycle constantly and Jack buries one. Risto gets a +1 for standing there |

I dont think he'll be there at 8.
If so, would seem like Dry, Sands and Askarov all go before 8...let's hope so! - IonSabres
I don’t think he will be either but we’ll find out on Tuesday I guess right haha |
