Laine isn't very good. He scores from a spot on the ice and is very mediocre everywhere else. Defensively he's as bad as Skinner.

There's reasons why his coach refuses to play him on the top line, and the GM doesn't want to give him a mega deal.

I don't blame anyone for liking Laine more, but I have watched Laine play at the very least, 100 times in his career. He's a no show for a majority of every game

I think you could make a case for both Skinner and Laine on the team, as long as you have the proper supporting casts for each. I personally see Skinner as a more valuable asset (if both are making 9M), provided he is playing with talented players.
