In Detroit last week, here’s what one player said to me about Andreas Athanasiou:

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Sounds like you. Won’t listen and continue to make the same mistakes. 😉

You will never be ready. 😀

Yzerman made out on that deal with Holland. Considering Kenny wants to move him already...

Winnipeg GM Kevin Cheveldayoff said that Patrik Laine could be traded.
Cheveldayoff was asked about recent reports that Laine may be dealt this off-season and he said, "So we're looking at all our options, including potentially trading different players." The Jets winger has one more season left on his contract that carries a $6.75 million cap hit. Cheveldayoff mentioned that the organization has holes that need to be filled, which is what hockey insiders have noted when mentioning Laine trade reports.

They have been trying to trade him for 2 years because of the 10 million dollar contract he wants

They counter with Olofsson, Jokiharju, and the 2021 1st round pick.

Perhaps. They want centers though, so doubt VO is an ask. Obviously Cozens is a nonstarter.

I wouldn’t do Jokiharju straight up. Not for this team

It seems more teams have the thinking that the Pegula's have, keep at a budget and still stay competitive and look towards after next year also. Dahlin is what they are thinking about for now, they pretty much know what they will offer Reinhart.

I think you have to throw in 8OA.

Mitts, montour and 8OA for Laine.

Would dahlin sign an 8 year contract? I kind of doubt it.

Would much rather it be 2021 1st than this years but that probably doesn’t do it.

I don't think so, Toffoli would cost less IMO but Laine is a hell of a player. I think Reinhart and Toffoli are going to get around the same, 7-8 a year. These contracts are getting more and more out of control.

Mitts, montour , 8OA and Samuelson?

Peg would probably like some d prospects.
They were super thin last season

Yeah I was kidding with the mitts and Montour. Obviously light. But I wouldn’t do this. Cost controlled assets are gonna be needed even if we don’t have an internal cap.

I appreciate the info.

I know you’re just the messenger however if deciding between Laine and Toffoli I would take the latter (however that would even demand on what the contract would look like)

I think I would take Toffoli also and that's a hard choice to make but contract wise, it isn't.

I agree, cost controlled would probably have to include sam (5-6 million) and montour ( 3 -4 million) type package.

Risto (5.5) and montour ( 3-4 million) for laine.

IMO I would go after Marchessault, he has 4 more years left at 5 mill a year, perfect for us but, it's also perfect for the Knights cap wise .
