Flacco and Foles have as many rings as Brees and Rodgers.

So I guess is as infrequent as it is to field an elite defence, it is just as infrequent for an Elite QB to win a Super Bowl.

It takes a team.

You're leaving out the other 8 times it's been won by a great QB in the last 10 years.

That's why are defense needs to figure it out.
- Buff36

We "meaning you 36 and me 34" needs our defense to figure it out.

3 - 0 without running the ball or stopping the other team defensively

It can't be? IF you can believe it?

Brady had a 71 QB rating and put up 13 points a couple of years ago.

Peyton Manning had a 56 QB rating in 2015 and was terrible that whole year. Osweiler went 4-1 that season.

Big Ben and Kurt were both pretty good the year the Steelers won, however Arizona wins convincingly without James Harrison’s 90 something yard pick 6 and when did the Steelers ever had a bad defence ?

Flacco and Kaepernick played each other in the Super Bowl.

The Sabres would qualify for the playoffs every year if we only played 25% of a season.

Came down the pike this week.

https://spectrumlocalnews...have-some-fans-in-stadium

It's a little more wishy-washy than the story I read, but they're still saying that it can be done.

Good post.

I told the Bill's to roll over my fully paid ticket.

Wonder if they give me a call soon?

We need a goalie...they need a super-yacht

Best year in modern era NHL to acquire very good talent if you are loaded, like have a net worth of say $5B ... and there it goes, bye, bye!

- IonSabres

Almost every team that is not the Leafs is setting an internal cap that is markedly lower than the $81.5M due to the likelihood of no or limited fan attendance.

It is far from only the Sabres taking that approach.

Brady’s last super bowl win he put up 13 points and was carried by Sony Michel and an elite defence.

Brady’s first Super Bowl win was a heavy upset on the Greatest Show on turf and Kurt Warner in a 20-17 win. Brady threw for 145 yards in that game and had a top 6 defences

- Pegullaville

Not just the superbowl kid, 20 years of:

Game in and game out passing the ball, rotating rbs , and defenses that were average, good and even mediocre.

Why cant you admit that teams win games in different fashions? Odd hill too die on.

People need to see that a internal cap doesn't mean that are cap isn't 81.5m but might only be 70m in actual money paid out, depends how creative Adams and company get.

To Calgary:

Reinhart, 2021 1st (From BOS)

To Buffalo:

Monahan, Bennett

To Winnipeg:

8OA 2020, 2022 1st (from BOS) Montour, Mittelstadt

To Buffalo:

Laine, Little

To Toronto:

Ristolainen

To Buffalo:

Nylander

Skinner/Krejci/Laine

Olofsson/Monahan/Nylander

Kahun/Stall/Little

Bennett/Lazar/Okposo

Dahlin/Carlo

Miller/Jokiharju

McCabe/Pilut

Rask
Ullmark

This roster will get you closer to the playoffs next season than what we will inevitably going into the season with. We don't rush Cozens, have UPL coming in still, see what we have in Ullmark, and only lose 8OA this season. And we can dangle Skinner to Seattle for incentives.

- 3rd GM's the charm

We could accomplish most of this without moving Eichel. End result is better on paper but not sustainable

You absolutely CAN win with a great defense. The problem is relying on it to win, because year in year out the best defenses come from different teams. Did anyone have the Colts as the best defense going into week 4? Anyone have the Chargers and Cards in the top 5?

The Cards allowed 183 more points than the Bills last year.

You CAN also lose with a great defense.

85 Bears come to mind, and the ravens. (That won because of defense)

Why is everyone ignoring the Patriots formula for winning the past 20 years? Not just the superbowl.

Winning for years, carried by their offense?
#12 in particular

Throwing to the tight ends won games
Gronkowski and Hernandez

They have never been a "running team"

Giants had the 25th overall scoring defense and 27th overall defense in yards allowed in 2011

They won the superbowl though.

Yes a team, not necessarily a “QB”.

You coined a nickname for me and refer to me as Flacco because I say that teams don’t necessarily need Elite QB to win and can win by having a strong running game and strong defence, essentially by having a strong “team”.

Even teams with Elite QB play need a strong supporting class.

Matt Ryan and Matthew Stafford haven’t even made the playoffs recently.

Aaron Rodgers lost to a team that put up 200+ rushing yards last year.

Kirk Cousins beat Drew Brees last year.

Tannehill took out Brady and Lamar last year.

Mahomes doesn’t have a chance to come back if the defence doesn’t hold the 49ers to field goals and hold them to nothing in critical points of the game.

They could rush 4 and get to the QB.

They gave up 17 points in that Super Bowl.

Now you're using single games? Come on, man. No one is saying you don't need a complete team, but having a great QB puts you ahead of those that don't it's just that simple.

The Pats Titans last year had the Pats at 71.1% to win when the game started, Ravens Titans had the Ravens at 82.7% to win when the game started.

The Saints Vikings had the Saints at 62.1%.

Only the 49ers had a higher chance to win of the games you listed at 72.4%.

The Chiefs were 65.5% in the Super Bowl.

Michael Grabner plans on continuing his career, according to agent Jerry Buckley.
Arizona has placed Grabner on waivers with the intention of buying out the final season of his three-year, $10.05 million contract. He was limited to eight goals and 11 points in 46 contests in 2019-20 and he wasn't much better in 2018-19, but it wouldn't be surprising to see a team offer him a fairly cheap one-year contract in the hope that he bounces back. He's got a lot of speed and at the age of 32, there's a chance he bounces back.

Regarding Laine, it always gives me pause when a player of his caliber is being shopped prior to a inevitable big money contract. I mean, he’s a well hyped player, you have to ask, WHY would the Jets be shopping him? He’s gotta have some warts .

It seems you should do some trading w/ Vegas now that they signed Lehner and have to trade MAF!
Maybe get MAF (no salary retained) and Tuch (sweetener) for Hutton, Mittelstadt, and a 3rd.
Vegas has $8M to re-sign RFA's and shop for an FA
Sabers have improved goaltending and a solid top 6 forward!

Yes, I do understand that.

Yet, at the same time, only what 5 other teams were worse than the Sabres.
I'm really only interested in the Sabres, well, Bolts too.
Fact remains this is such a grand opportunity, with only 10 players signed, to greatly improve the roster.
