There are a lot of avenues he can take this offseason to make this team competitive.

Botts may not have given him cap space, but he has as much roster flexibility as one can ask for taking over as a GM.

The Staal deal is excellent value, but it's another band aid and shows absolutely nothing to Eichel in terms of commitment to winning long term

Nothing is free.

But those first two arguments are 100% moot. He's only here for one year.

He's also, by every account, a true professional, which will help the youngins, and will help Jack immensely in the dressing room.

There's every indication that Adams isn't close to being done, from what everyone around the league hears and reports.
