So I think that all started when Fitz was talking about multiple prospects and praised askarov so people went running with it
He may be a great goalie but think it's a little too high based on the other talent in the draft and the devil's have other holes to fill
The devil's goalie prospects aren't great but blackwood has shown he is capable and he had stolen games or kept the devil's in games even behind an dumpster fire of a defense. So while the devil's won't be competitive for a couple of years which is probably when askarov would be ready I think the devil's will look for other areas that need help. The devil's need a sniper like holtz as they have alot of playmakers but not many shooters other than palms
Would I hate the pick if they went with askarov no, since if he stays healthy and hits then he can be a top goalie, but think there are too many holes elsewhere so would prefer a forward of it isn't Drysdale or lesser extent sanderson - dmarsden2988

Devil's GM Tom Fitzgerald - dmarsden2988
Friedman on 31 Thoughts believes that if the Sens don't take Askarov at 5, the Devils will at 7. He says a lot of teams are wondering if New Jersey will take him there.
Friedman on the possibility of Askarov being taken high in the 1st RD: "Someone's going to do it." |

Maybe Montour and a 3rd
Risto would also fit the bill but not sure if the devil's would be interested
Also feel it may be one of those last second deals where NJ sees who is available at 7 and who is on the board around 18
If Drysdale is there I think devil's take him 7th as Fitzgerald had good things to say about him, didn't seem as hot on Sanderson but wouldn't be a shock there.
The devil's do have some nice D prospects (not Earth shattering) in ty Smith, bahl and Walsh but do need D but also need help on the wings
I wouldn't be shocked if the devil's trade palmieri if there is a good offer
Good Center depth especially if Hughes takes next step
Nico
Hughes
Zacha
Zajac
But wingers are a work in progress
Bratt looks good but he misses time
Palms is a good stable consistent winger
Gusev was very good - dmarsden2988
I would 100% do Montour and our fourth(don’t have our third, but high 4th) for 20. |

Or Ristolainen, and then use that cap space for a forward or defense upgrade. |

Not really any rumors at the moment but Fitzgerald said he is looking for young players to grow with the team and be competitive
Palms isnt an old veteran but is getting older and is a UFA next year and I will want to go to a team that's competitive for a chance at a cup.
I know the isles were trading for zajac last year, either in the same deal with Greene or separate deal, but zajac didn't waive due to family so it's clear the devil's are looking to get younger |

Jesper Bratt looks like a real find for you guys.
A number of CapFriendly armchair GM lineups for next year had Buffalo trading Ristolainen for him, but I don't know why the Devils would do that deal. |

Sure, think NJ wants a cost controlled Dman. Either work. Just need to move one for sure |

I wouldn't be too opposed
Severson subban
Montour Smith
Walsh butcher
Not the best but (frank) it
I think Walsh has to play in the NHL as he came from college and can't go to AHL but I could be wrong there and not positive if bahl is ready
Devil's have lots of holes |

Could even package that 20 pick in a trade with Cap strapped teams...VGK, Bolts, Canucks, etc. for a solid player. |

He is cost controlled but devil's also are into analytics and well risto isn't great in that department
He may be good on the powerplay but I think the devil's believe Ty Smith will qb the powerplay and severson and subban on the other unit and go with 4 forwards

Absolutely, or just use the pick to select another high quality forward that the team is sorely lacking in forward prospect depth, and spend at least some of $$$ on signing a player.
That's the approach I would take, as it helps build the prospect depth and upgrades the current roster. |

Yeah bratt does look good especially when he is on his game
Boqvist has high expectations and some devil fans say will be better than bratt once he is acclimated |

As a Sabres fan, the year or so in Buffalo....
I was not impressed with montour.
Decent speed, but kinda small ( or plays small) , not physical. Moved the puck well, not exactly a hard shot.
Scheduling Monty as a 3/4 d might be wishful.

I think it was kinda tough to tell. The system Kruger ran, playing hurt, on his off hand, with Risto would be tough even for most guys to look great. I will say he looked good for the 20 or so games he played under Housley. |

I'll say 2 hours nfl is postponed - GERBE!!!75PTS
You are a week early, maybe 2. Sure some more games might be postponed, but I wouldn't think the entire league, just yet anyway. |

It was a classic case of player-system mismatch.
He is more of the attacking style Dman that is becoming more popular to drive more offensive production.
Krueger employed a more defensive system and wanted his Dmen to pass the puck quickly. Then stay back, not to aggressively join the rush so they don't get trapped.
His utility depends on the system employed |

So I have seen there is a possible Sabres/Devils deal in the making
I don't know if it's true or not, but I have heard Butcher's name mentioned what else is being discussed? |

There is no way the Bills play next week that's for almost certain.
Plus if the Chiefs and Patriots end up playing Tuesday night that is 3 games in 9 days for them and the Bills getting them having 10 days rest. If I was a Chiefs fan I would be p!ssed.
The bubble concept is very hard to pull off for the NFL. Even if you did it by division there are 8 divisions with 4 teams each. Each team has 55 players plus 12 practice squad players, not to mention players on IR. Then there is the coaching staff, training staff, equipment guys, etc. You're looking at about 100 people per team, needing rooms, food, etc.
Then how would you handle traveling to other bubbles to play other teams?
Logistically it COULD work, but I don't see it happening. If there are more breakouts in the next few days I would expect a 2-3 week pause of the season and then pick it up from there. |

He would be the 2nd line RWer, and a pretty solid one at that.
I wonder the cost, but I would love to see something worked out there. 29 years old a solid veteran addition as well.
I like it |

He would be a nice add but he’d be a rental.
Maybe a Montour for Palmeri one for one with us adding a prospect potentially on our end ?
I wouldn’t move out too many assets though for a guy that could walk next offseason |

They’re would be no traveling in between bubbles until the second rd of the playoffs. You scrap the schedule and only play teams in the bubble. Twice against in division teams, once against the other AFC division and once against one of the NFC divisions for a 14 game schedule.
The egos of the NFL and NFLPA would get in the way.
I proposed my idea to a Bills exec that comes in and he said it was a fantastic idea and the logistics wouldn’t be as difficult as one would think but egos would get in the way.
