He didn’t say those package of players would acquire Jack in a trade, he said the value those players bring at the associated cap hit is more then what one player would provide.

I’ve been arguing a similar view points for years hence why I b*tched about Skinner getting all that money to provide less value then what Burakovsky, Donskoi, and Nichuskin would have provided for the same cap hit.

And that makes sense, to a degree. What it doesn't take into consideration is that there would be players to take the spots of those guys if traded. Don't get the Avs thing twisted Bura, Don, and Nich are role players that make up Skinners value. Where they make their money (winning games) is having McKinnon as the best, or second best player in the world making pennies of his worth, Maker being unbelievable making pennies of his worth, and Rantonan and Landeskog being paid appropriately. That's more important then the guys you listed above imo. Skinner needs to be that guy who's paid appropriately, so he needs to play better. That's where the large divide is.

I have noticed when coaches are the hot seat they win that one game to be safe

He's super old

His play at some point very soon will fall off

He's a bridge to Cozens, not any long term solution

It doesn't show Eichel any type of long term commitment to winning. It says, "Here we did something"

They need to make a really big move, or 2-3 pretty sunstantial ones

✔ A model for young players/centers
✔ Very cheap cap hit for what he provides on the ice
✔ Saved 1M(ish) in cap and salary and provided a position of need over a worse player in a position that can easily be filled
✔ Shows Eichel in one of many steps that they are serious about winning. Not filling that void with a short or long term solution and implying that Mittelstadt or Cozens was good enough, for a third season in a row, would be a sign of 'not being serious'
