What about Korpisalo? Cheaper, same age, more games in the league. Merzlikins has better numbers but has played 100 less games.

Edit: I'm not proposing a Monahan for Korpisalo + swap, fwiw.

Bennett has mostly played wing in Calgary but had an outstanding playoff playing C and is very likely going to start next year as the 2 or 3 C in Calgary.

Honestly unless BT plans to throw caution to the wind and change the entire team by trading off one of his forwards and gambling on a 7 year deal with someone the flames will probably ice the same team as last year, sadly I don't think that will work.

With all the new buzzing about how the whole league will change lol, this happened about 8 years back before FAF, then nothing happened and it was crickets. I think with the whole no cap movement it will happen where everything is quiet and just smooths along. Of course everyone needs news for ratings but really I think it will be slow and boring. I would love to see the flames organize something where they get hall for cents on the dollar under 7 million but I don't think its in the cards.
