Here is another question can retain salary be buried in the ahl ala rockford? - Scott1977
I believe if a player is on a one way contract he can be buried in the minors but the cap relief is only about 900K. That player has to clear waivers and if he has a NMC he has to okay the demotion.
For example they can send Smith to Rockford but he has to clear waivers and the cap hit is still 2 3M of his 3.2M salary. |

IND is arguably the best defense in the league, so its tough to judge right now. |

As far as Crawford signing, he along with the other FA goaltenders got blindsided by what Lehner signed for. Lehner’s AAV is 1/2 of what Bobrovsky signed for last year. Even with a flat cap, he could of gotten at least $7 mil. In free agency. I also don t see another team guaranteeing Crow the #1 job. He now has the competition of Lundqvist, and MAF as cheap veteran options. Maybe Crow signs with Vegas to share the net with Lehner? Stranger things have happened this year.
All teams can go 10% above the cap until day 1 of the season. I believe there will be some teams (Toronto, possibly Vegas) that will use it if they really want a player (both are supposedly in on Pietrangelo.
Wonder how Shaw is doing? I hope he is healthy, but I also hope he finishes his career on LTIR. That’s another $4 mil. The Hawks could have if Shaw goes on LTIR before the season. |

Yes but still...
Colts D played better than ours today. That was easily the best team the Bears have played this year. Foles didn't play great today but there were a number of dropped balls too.
As good as the Bucs defense is, I don't thin they're as goos as the Colts and the Bears should be able to put up some points on them, |

Two dropped INTs by the D. Foles left some yards on the field with some overthrows. Seen enough of Miller and I really thought he would turn a corner but too many balls come off his hands. The one leading to the INT was a tough catch but definitely catchable.
Well ,not dropped but left out there. Smith had a foot out of bound. Mack's was bad. Would have put the Bears in good field position. |

Teams are going to score points for the most part in the NFL. Holding a team to 19 points is good. Run defense looked better today. Bears had ten plays giving up negative yardage. |

Bears can't run the ball and their plays aren't fooling anyone. Cohen was their only threat besides Robinson. |

It is Sunday Oct 4, 2020 and wiz's draft board 1 - 17 ranking has barely changed for a while now. I hope any changes are given at the last possible second, so that others doing the draft cannot usage the authority for the draft - wiz- to influence their own ranking.
It does seem presently that Holloway or a dman might be the wisest best player available. I would not really be pleased but Zary might be ok. Zary actually is one whom could surprise with earlier than expected selection. Hold on the final 48 hours is upon us. |

I believe this happened with Phaneuf's buyout. Ottawa's retained portion underwent the same treatment. |

MAF is available, whether by trade with $’s retained and a sweetner, or by Vegas not finding a trade partner and buying him out. |

Just a few things to keep an eye on especially if the Hawks may look to move on from Strome.
@PierreVLeBrun
Hearing that Tampa Bay has talked to Tyler Johnson’s camp about working together on a possible move. Johnson has a full no-trade clause. Let’s see where this goes.
@TheFourthPeriod
More on Lightning: They are expected to formally (minor talks thus far) begin contract negotiations with their five RFAs (Cernak, Cirelli, Sergachev, Stephens & Verhaeghe) on Monday.
On Johnson, he's apparently not keen on waiving his NTC but I'm sure TB will find a way. Still decently productive as a middle 6 center. He hustles and plays with energy.
However, Johnson has 4 years left at $5M AAV. That's rich considering the most I would want to re-up Strome is at $3.5M on a bridge deal.
On the Lightning RFAs, Cirelli and Sergachev are their top priorities. Assuming that they can lock in those two and maybe 1-2 others but not all of them, Stephens is one I would kick the tires on.
Stephens has a strong work ethic and compete level. Skates very well, goes to the dirty areas, battles all over the ice, and wins draws. Likely a stellar 4C and doubtful he could be 3C as he never lit it up in juniors yet was decent in the AHL.
Not saying break the bank on Stephens but a player like him is one who could really enhance the compete level that is sorely needed in the lineup. |

Me too. I'd rather do a 1-2 year deal at $2.0-$2.5M AAV and let him prove he deserves a bigger deal on his next one. |
