Grubauer and Francouz were injured, no?

I believe Francouz was in net when they ended falling to DAL so that's possible (Grubauer's injury).

Don't recall but I would think if you have real SCF aspirations you wouldn't bank on those 2.

I know they've both had some success in the regular season but so have a lot of guys.

Detroit wouldn’t surprise me. Yzerman is not adverse to going “unconventional” (analysts had to scramble when he picked Seider last year), and he has selected a goalie in the first round before (Vasilevsky). He has time, he knows he is a few years away before building a playoff team. Yzerman toll Marc Stahl’s contract so he could pick up a second rounder as an asset.

Well Lehner reportedly today was announced signed five years $25 mill. So that sends a message how much Crawford should expect? But if Crawford waits a bit he might get more from Colorado? Which might be one of few reams he would consider. But one of his requests is to be the man in net. Yet with a compressed schedule next season it is a reasonable assumption that both goaltenders on most teams will see action. If i were in Bowman's shoes i would take Crawford on a team friendly deal and year two is option to renew. You can do that, right. And tell Crawford there is no guarantee he is protected in The Expansion Draft. Bowman has to be smart and disregard loyalty regarding Crawford. After all his age and health make that viewpoint necessary

Bergevin said it would take player signed for more than one year and be a top six option (who would be in consideration as a "protect" in the Kraken expansion draft.

Canadiens rumored to be interested in Laine. He has 1 more year than a RFA. Montreal's 1st, Domi and one of Chiarot/Kulak/Mete back to WPG?

Don't think that's an option in the NHL.

So with the Lehner signing, Fleury will probably be out there as another goalie option for Carolina, Chicago, Colorado etc. If he's bought out by the Knights and becomes a free agent, all it would cost a team is the right amount of money. If Stan's upper limit for a #1 goalie is $4M and Cro doesn't take it, does Stan pursue MAF?

Why would Stan let Lehner go if he could have signed him for 5 mil . Big fail on Stan part .He has let the goaltending position fall into total disrepair .

Do you believe Bowman thought he would sign for only $5mill x five yr back at the time he was traded?

Now Jarry signed $3.5/yr. Elliot signed too btw.

I don't want Murray from the Penguins. They would accept a #2 and would Stan bite? Hopefully not. Laine to Montreal sounds like Bergevin would really like to get it done. Could Drouin fit in somewhere?

Do you really think Lehner’s number was $5M before the realization there was a pandemic and the announcement of a flat Cap?

Pretty sure he was looking for north of $7M before that and the NHL TDL occurred before the stoppage in play.

Maybe Lehner wants to play for a contender and for a team that gives up a lot less high danger attempts against.

I don’t think Stan wanted to give Lehner 5 years, not sure I would either

How close are the Hawks to being a legitimate Cup contending team? In my opinion they are at least 2-3 years away based on the young d-men maturing enough to be solid NHL defenders. Therefore, the goalie for the next couple seasons is less important than who is in goal when the team has improved enough to compete for the Cup so coupled with the fact that the Cap is flat, I think it would be foolish to spend more of the Cap on a Crawford or Fleury than is warranted given the situation. The goalie position should be handled like a bridge to the goalie we need 2-3 years from now. Get a cheap veteran like Anderson and/or go with the in-house guys for the time being.

Not sure I would either but I also tend to lean toward the supposition that he wasn’t asking for $5M at that point in time.

He came out in the press around January saying he wasn’t accepting a hometown discount and pretty much that this was his time to get paid.

Because 5 years is to long a term for a player with his past, hope it works out for him and Vegas. The idea he's playing in Vegas with all those temptations is kind of scary

Ya maybe it was just bad timing .Stan record of shoring up the goaltending position has be abysmal .Getting Lehner was a good move .He could have afforded 7 mil to replace Crow . Should have waited till the end of the season to make any deal he new Crow was ageing out . I think Stan's time has come .I believe he is not well liked in the GM fraternity

Yep, big difference between pre-pandemic and post pandemic numbers. I would say $5M is the new $7M, about a 30% difference.

So if Saad was thinking of at least 6.5M-7M on his next contract that translates to 4.5M to 5M? Even I would extend him for that.

Every GM has a shelf life and when they bid Stan adieu, I’ll look forward to and hope the next GM can help add a few more banners to the rafters.

How is Stan’s goalie record abysmal? They had Crawford in the Wings when Turco was signed.

Had Razor backing up Crow in ‘13. Darling played an important role in ‘15.

Yes Cam Ward was a used band aid but I think overLl they’ve done well with the G situation.

Ya that not a bad record of picking up back ups . I am referring to try and stable a true replacement for your starter .All he has done is throw darts at lottery tickets in the late rounds , And now we have nothing in the pipeline . .

Definitely no sure thing and maybe not even a true NHL backup among the group. If Crow opts for greener pastures I would prefer they either go with the 3 in house or sign one of the UFA's for cheap (maybe Greiss) and rotate the other three.

They either sink or swim and as some have said, at worst it's another lottery pick. Gotta keep building.

I would do a Chicago 17 oa for Ottawa 28, 33 and 51
And the order of selection for the Hawks is 17, 46, 79, to be determine at the 3 rd round (76 or 81), 110, 141, 172.

What about saad to jersey for 18th and miles wood. Hawks select holloway and boruque/ lappierre if he is there. Or go big and 17 th overall strome and beaudin to Tampa for killhorn cireliia and 2nd then saad to jersey for 18th or 20th pick and wood. Killhorn replaces saad strome is center that replaces cirellia beaudin d prospect if they lose cernak or the Russian. Cerellia becomes a our 3rd line center signed extension 3x4. Smith bought out. Matta traded to a team that can absorb his contract ala Detroit. Keep Murphy unless an trade comes along that cannot pass up. Kubalik 2 years 3 million per year.
Killhorn towes kubalik
Dcat dach kane
Nylander cirellia shaw if he plays/suter
Wood kampf highmore
Capenter/ hagel

Keith Murphy
Dehann boqvist
Koko if signed back otherwise? Mitchell
Seabrook
?
Subban qualified

Wiz but i have feeling that either detroit or ottawa takes askarov at 4 or 5 no reasoning boy that would shake the whole draft order up.
- Scott1977

Yeah I know, that was part of an earlier post all the possible Askarov destinations, BUT you think Detroit's playing with fire to not take a forwards here and (a defender in next years thick defender derby) and sign a goalie for now. They have so many needs !

and Ottawa has got so many picks and to with both their early spots, you HAVE to take those great forwards, as there is a lot of security in their excellence to play for sure. I this it is a mistake if the reach (defender or goalie).

It is simply a matter of return. (Anybody the latest Byran Bowen projection has him not being on Colorado this Fall/Winter because he needs time[/I]? Remember all that plays right away hype?

I like the top two offenseman and the next two also who are clearly reaches but have a payoff and. security in the strengths.

It all depends upon how quickly they think the learning curve on Yaroslav Askarov is and all that could backfire.
