Morrison cap hit is 743k and Hawks retained $750,108
Saves about 2.5 in cap if Morrison makes the roster |

Agreed, stay away, I'd love it if the Hawks clear Maatta or deHaan, so if someone offer sheets say a Bolts player like Sergachev, the Hawks can take on some salary and pluck Cirelli from them, he'd look great on the 3rd line - BetweenTheDots
Glad to see Stan reading this blog😁

Good trade for both teams and draft picks or players given good start for bowman. |

Doing a little homework on Brad Morrison:
6'0" 170 pounds
Center, shoots left
Drafted in the 4th by NYR in 2015
Barely a PPG player in 6 seasons in juniors
Final year of 3-year ELC
Played in the AHL two seasons ago (20 points in 50 games), then in the ECHL last season (19 points in 17 games).
He's most likely minor league depth at best which is totally fine since the goal was to just shed salary. |

Well really only 750k counts against the cap, that's outstanding for the Blackhawks |

Wonder if Wiz is right, if they might go after Markstrom |

Told you Maatta had no value. Great job by Stan to clear almost his whole salary.
Let's not put Morrison into any line-ups. He is a AHL at best |

#Blackhawks have sent Olli Maatta to LA in exchange for prospect Brad Morrison. Chicago is retaining $750,108 of Maatta's $4,083,333 salary in 2020-21 and 2021-22. - Theo Fox
Makes perfect sense for the Kings. They have a boatload of D prospects, but Doughty is the only veteran D they had. |

I got the impression that Stan is waiting for the Crawford situation to get settled before he makes other moves. But if this drags on any longer he is going to miss out on a lot of action this upcoming week. Teams will be making moves at the draft and the days leading up to free agency to clear cap space. - boilermaker100
I’d like to see them keep Crawford at a reasonable cap hit, but Stan needs to give Crawford’s camp a hard target date, if no agreement then he needs to move on, there’s work to be done. |

Figured as much. Just gave 2.5 as worst case. More like 3.2 in added cap space |

Not upset at the deal as it's forward motion in a pivotal offseason for the Hawks and first of other dominos.
Just would've preferred a draft pick instead of a prospect who has very little chance of making it to the NHL and may even be hard pressed to crack the Hogs lineup.
Even a 5th or 6th rounder would have been fine. Lottery tickets are always good in my book. |

Brad Morrison is just two years removed from junior hockey because he chose to stay and get better from there.
I believe he was injured last year but too busy to check.. |

$ is gonna be tight so expecting even late picks for Cap relief might be asking a lot from the team you fleeced for Kubalik...

There is NO UPSIDEto Morrison other then he has good puck skills in tight. He's mostly and ECHL player that may get some AHL games. He won't have an NHL career. Kings just clearing a roster spot |

It didn't work. He only played 17 games last season. Except they were in the ECHL. He is going the wrong way. |

Sure, it would have been nice but a 5th rounder choice has the same chance of playing in the NHL as Morrison. The real value if added cap space and a spot opens up for one of the younger D-men to take the bull by the horns. |

Thanks Olli for your one year of service with the Hawks. Stay healthy and good luck in LA.
An additional word of advice. Rent an apartment instead of buying a house. You may be in Seattle in a year. |
