It makes no sense to trade Carlo.I have heard the fans and bloggers mention him - VANTEL
League history has shown us that if you want to trade for a quality defender without overpaying, Nashville always has an abundance in their pipeline. |

You know, in fourteen seasons Evgeni Malkin has only once had less points than number of games played, career 1.19 points per game played...God I hope Pettersson is that guy for us! We’ve never had an elite NHL center, which is probably why we’ve never won a Cup.
Henrik was great, but he wasn’t elite... |

It makes sense in that we need D, sure.
Makes no sense in paying a premium for a declining 29 year old on a massive 7 year deal that plays the left side when we are desperately needing RHD. |

Whether it make sense or not you have two actual NHL GMs trying to make an offer and trade. Carlo is Blogger and writers telling the public what is their opinion only. No actual NHL people involved.

As I mentioned yesterday, how is Tampa’s right side? Not good. They are stacked on the left side. Who cares what way he shoots. Overrated! We just need above replacement level D as we currently have 3 under contract |

JB would never do that. One offer sheet in the last? 8 years ? Tampa would match unless we went higher and surrendered a 1st and a 3rd. Massive overpayment for cernak |

Henrik’s peak was absolutely elite lol
It’s just that his prime wasn’t as long as someone like Malkin’s |

JB would be one of my last guesses as the kind of guy who would OS. Meanwhile a guy like Doug Wilson would be at the top of my list lol |

May I ask why is he declining. Because he is 29 and will then be 30. If this is the logic everyone over 29 is now declining and every team should cut their losses now.
I certainly don't have a dog in this fight of back and forth over acquiring OEL, but I do believe the team and Benning have a plan going forward with or without OEL.
If he becomes a Canuck awesome, if he doesn't, oh well, there is always Tanev |

He just turned 29 in July. He should be taken out back and put out of his misery. Guy probably can’t even skate anymore |

Cernak only possibly via trade. OEL gets done if he Kesler’s the Yotes into getting bodied by Benning or if JB has a deal lined up with someone else to clear cap first |

Declining as in not as his peak – not that he's useless. If you look at all the stats (advanced and regular) his play isn't what it was. Therefor, declining. No need to get into hysterics and exaggerations.
OEL is better than most of the current Canucks D, but paying a ton and getting him just to see him regress more isn't what I would trade for. |

Ya, you’re probably right, he had two or three elite years in the league. In terms of careers though, he’s just not in the same league as a Malkin. |

Yeah, his defense has fallen off more so than his offense. Still an upgrade like you said but he’s not going to be a shutdown dman like Tanev used to be. OEL’s main attraction is his offense and minute eating ability, he can play big minutes, beat a forecheck with his skating/passing, and he can create offense in the o-zone. |

Of course. Malkin is one of the most dominant players to play in the league over the past 20 years. Even Pens fans all agree that when he’s on top of his game, he’s more dominant than Crosby, but Sid is more consistent game to game |

Is Hedman at his peak? 100%. He is 7 months older than OEL. He had a down year but it could be possible his best years are ahead of him |
