I do, still like the guy but he needs to move on.
Now let’s not start a poop show in here, fair? - Makita
The only reason why he needs to move on is that stupid (frank)ing contract. I think it’s situations like Beagle’s that have certain fans suspicious of JBs abilities. Especially JBs ability to see “down the road”. He seems to be very short-sighted. |

If true, sums up how disappointing 2020 actually was. |

Interesting that Gaudette has become a whipping boy. It’s almost as if players that young will just not get any better. Will not have bad stretches before they find consistency. I was really disappointed in his playoff performance, but giving up on the kid is silly imo |

Hockey god is just gonna be fine.
Beagle should be getting 1.5m, he's got a NT
Sutter should be getting 2.5 to 3, again a NT
I'm not going to touch Erikson with VANTELs Richard |

Well personally I’m not privy to what happens in a hockey boardroom, I don’t have a guy to email.
There is definitely a group that doesn’t like Benning or any of his signings, but if he was as bad as certain fans claim, why is he still employed.
Benning in my opinion has done a really good job with the Canucks, yes there are players that didn’t pan out the way he hoped, but looking at the overall picture he has been a good GM. |

I honestly thought Sutter was one of the better guys in the playoffs. Is he worth 5mil? F no, but i could see a team actually tqking him unlike LE and Beags |

The Louie and Beagle contracts are a bummer but...
- Hindsight is 20/20 when it relates to how fast Petey and Hughes have proven they can perform at an elite level.
- The young players needed big brothers and stability to get comfortable in the league. Just filling spots in the lineup with one year contracts is not ideal for players learning how to be consistent.
Sure many said not to sign Beagle, Rous, Louie, and Sutter but no one knows the impact they have had on the young players. Louie is the only contract we can truly look back at and say it was a mistake and/or did not provide development benefits. |

I think we have to be fair and lay most of the blame for this signing mistake at the player's feet. He's given the Canucks barely a fraction of what he's demonstrated he's capable of. It's almost like he lost the will to live the moment he put pen to paper. |

Don’t disagree that the player is the problem but most can agree that when that signing was announced (ignoring everything else) the 6 year term was clearly an overpay.
I like a lot of what Benning has done but Louie was never worth that much (and if that was market, should have never been signed). His contract is really the only one causing problems - AAV and term.

I know I hated the Loui signing even before it happened but it is amazing how many in here these days were screaming one more year to the Sedins and today are the loudest to voice their opinions about bad contracts

Alright fellas. Had a bit of idea after taking a break from this place for a while. I imagine some will hate the idea, but thats ok, as you don't have to part take. Given social distancing, and text so often getting lost in translation, I was thinking of streaming 4 player call of duty with hockeybuzz members to casually play and talk about all things canucks. I'm not trying to start a podcast or blog or whatever the hell people do nowadays, it's just a means to talk hockey live while continuing to social distance. I'll stream the event so we will have a live chat as well for people who can't play, or don't want to. The object won't be to win at video games, slander other members of hockeybuzz or create online harassment, but to just talk all things canucks while casually gaming. Call of duty is free and cross platform, so anyone can play and I can post a link to the stream so other members can chat. Again, this isn't a start of anything like a blog or a podcast, but just a means of being able to "shoot the poop" with buddies online, instead of at a pub. Everyone welcome, absolutely no bashing of specific posters, just a bunch of hockeybuzz people talking canucks and casually losing games online. Anyway, I know the heat is coming, but I just thought it would be a cool experiment. Cheers |

My sister had a baby 2 weeks ago and to keep her and the little one safe, I must maintain a small bubble and keep physical socializing down to almost nothing. Anyway, it was just an idea, I think golfing and RC were two people down. We could schedule it weekly so people know when to tune in and what not. Feedback welcome and please let me know if you are interested!
Edit - it was bloated and not RC who was interested. |

I’m hoping the Canucks might take some RHD prospects in the 3rd & 4th rounds...
Checking out players that might be available to the Canucks in the 80-100 overall rankings. A couple of interesting looking prospects, judging solely by their scouting profiles (pretty weak source)...anyone have the opportunity to watch or hear about any of these?
Brock Faber (RHD, 6’ 180lbs)
https://lastwordonsports....ck-faber-scouting-report/
https://dobberprospects.com/player/brock-faber/
2 yrs in the U-18 USNTDP
Good skater, strong defensive play
Ranked 42 in NA skaters
Ian Moore (RHD, 6’3”, 170lbs)
https://lastwordonsports....an-moore-scouting-report/
Still playing for St Mark’s high school, though drafted into the QMJHL
Moore is a gifted skater for a 6-foot-3 defenceman, and a confident puck-carrier
Ranked 47 in NA skaters
Samuel Knazko (LHD, 6’, 185lbs)
https://dobberprospects.com/player/samuel-knazko/
https://www.eliteprospect...ayer/423667/samuel-knazko
ranked 42nd in European skaters
[oops...LHD, not RH....still looks intriguing though] |

15 goal, 45 point pace playing 12 minutes a night in his 2nd season in the NHL. I still think he’s better suited as a winger but he’s exactly what you want from a depth player in the cap era. Young, cost-controlled and productive.
I’d rather have guys like Gaudette, Virtanen, ZMac and Motte over Sutter and Beagle.
Canucks PK was ranked 16th in the NHL at 80.5%, even if it somehow fell to 76%(worst case scenario), that’s an extra 10 goals allowed but you’re saving cap and likely getting more offense/speed/energy if you stick with the youth. |

Definitely. I just need to expand my Xbox’s hard drive because CoD warzone takes too much space. Won’t fully download for me. Give me a week or so and I’ll pick up an external drive and then we can kick ass.
