Do you believe that there is actually a NHL team that doesn't know their cap or what their plan is going into this year and next?

Do you think Canucks would have made an offer if there is no way they could navigate this?

I didn't word that the best. Basically what I'm saying is the Canucks can't wait a couple weeks to see if this deal goes through. They either do it now and it alters their plan, or they drop it after these next few days and pursue other options.

I’m just sitting in the car waiting for my wife, who’s “in the shops”. Been following the rumors on twitter and thought I would check what you retards were saying about it

I am actually on holidays right now. Heading to the Okanagan next week for six days of wine touring

A 40pt 29yr old LHD for $8.25m would have a big domino effect. Many players would be shuffled to be compliant. Cernak looks like a better option.

There is probably going to be a bidding war for Cernak . I think it will be an overpayment for him

I'm okay if we get OEL on JB's terms.

If Canucks pull this trade off and they sign Marky to a 4 or 5 year deal around the 5 mil mark , they can then trade Demko for a first round pick , they you have shored up your goaltending and your back end and recovered a first round pick then that is a hell of a week.

I agree but somebody has to move to the right side. It would mean letting Tanev walk & trading Stechers right.

just said,

"Names involved in Canucks' offers have included Juolevi, Eriksson and Sutter."

#Canucks

- VanHockeyGuy

I could see this.

Canucks trade:
- Eriksson with 2 Mil retained. Arizona would basically just have to pay 500k a year or could flip him to a team that needs to meet the salary cap floor (4mil cap hit.. only 500k actually cash--- Teams like Ottawa would be interested in LE then)
- Sutter- 1 Mil retained - Arizona could then flip him by retaining another mil. A team would definitely be interested in a veteran Centre with a net cap of 2.5mil
- Joulevi
-2021 St

Canucks get OEL one Mil retained

Thinking is Arizona get's their 1st round pick, prospect and cap dump. If they're able to move Sutter they basically just have LE 500k and whatever they retain from the sutter deal. Plus the one mil retained for OEL... but it's spread over 7 years. Their cash flow should be better once covid is done with.

Canucks obviously get stud defenseman... cap hit at 7.25 would be very appealing for what OEL offers. By getting rid of LE and sutter even with the retained cash would be 7.35 mil... basically OEL's salary for this year.

For giggles, nothing too serious....

New Jersey has 18 and 20 overall picks that came from Ari and Van respectively, what if Van could get those picks?

Boeser, Virtanen and Sutter to NJ for 18 and 20
18, 20, Erikson and Joulevi to Ari for OEL

Why Boeser? He has to be qualified at 7.5 million, and him being moved out ensures Toffoli can be resigned.

Why Virtanen? He will become a better player but his cost to continue developing is too high for Vancouver. He won't have a stable top 6 spot and he will cost too much for the role he provides.

Why Joulevi? He will be a good 2nd pairing defensive player in the future, but, OEL is already better than he will be in the long run.

That would essentially move out 16 million for this coming season from Van (and another 12 next year) to be replaced by the 8.25 of OEL. That extra 8 ensures Toffoli, Markstrom and Tanev can be resigned, and provide some room for depth players or promotions from the farm.

Like I said, just for giggles!

- mungozen

I’d take Boeser with the Habs.

Domi played with Horvat in OHL. How about you reunited them together? :D

I had a good laugh yesterday. Seems like a few posters with common sense spoke up eventually.

OEL is the 5th highest paid dman in the NHL. I doubt he makes the best top 10 and is heading for the backside of his career...

There's going to be other more affordable players available with a multi year flat cap on the horizon. It's just the beginning of this new market.

Arizona cap hell looks like a teardown is coming. Revenue strapped makes a real probability.
