Hughes is a RFA with no arb rights and can not be offer sheeted. Start thinking 7-7.5 short term . Get out of this flat cap and then sign the big deals.

Agree with you which isn’t often lol

Same money & some more for AP would be my benchmark. Get a better D man easily & a RHD & for free. Even that is spending a lot on D once Hughes gets his bridge. The assets saved could move out dumps. That said it’s a cap risk as well but AP has more elite years in him vs OEL who seems to be sliding downhill a bit. It could be he is mired in Arizona but not so sure. With AP we’d have beaten VGK.

The window to win is the next 3-4 years, The contract being 7 years is not a problem. Move on from him later if you need to

Round out the roster with cheaper/younger options. If a guy like Myers is making 6 Million, A guy like OEL for 8.25 is a steal
