scratching my head still that teams like the Habs are picking #16 when clearly they are in bigger need than the Canes, Pens, and Leafs....the NHL/Bregman circuit is bizarre... |

He'll soon realize that all that space and time he has in juniors to make those plays will disappear once he turns pro. If you can hold onto the puck, great, but you see tons of players who flourish with it in juniors for them to never make it. - Blackstrom2
Yeah it's often an adjustment they have to make from juniors to the AHL and then the NHL. Some players make the adjustment well while others don't. Those that usually make the adjustment well are usually players who are fast skating, sick stickhandlers, very smart, quick release shot or hard to knock off the puck...or a combination of all of those. |

Lehner signs!
Eliot signs!
Jarry 3X3.5m AAV.
3 less goalies to contend for! - HenryHockey
If the Lehner signing indicates a market correction in goaltender values I may be interested in Markstrom. |

Some guy on TSN (Sekeres?) says Markstrom has no interest in signing with Detroit or Edmonton. |

I wouldn’t blame him if that’s true. |

I was surprised at the number for Lehener. If that does indeed set the pace, Yzerman may have a lot more options |

Who was Pitts first round defenseman? - ChrisMS
I’m so sorry, I did botch that. Letang is to whom I was referring. Thanks for the catch |

I assume he means Letang who was a 3rd round pick. Maybe Maatta? The only others during that time were forgettable/regrettable: Ryan Whitney, Simon Despres, Joe Morrow, and Derrick Pouliot. - Hockey66
I wish I’d not made the mistake. It is interesting to see the list you provided. I completely botched that one. It seems like a long time since I’ve thought about Whitney or Morrow. It’s flying by |

Good write up and points. You are right too, Yzerman you can tell does his work and has contingency plans. The Wings are very lucky to have him. - MacPatty
I really appreciate that! It felt like Holland was much easier to “guess” at times. Yzerman has only recently been doing more media availability. He looks and sounds like a very straight shooter, but keeps things in close. I look forward to seeing what he continues to bring! |

I remember a couple years ago hearing an op ed regarding the newest wave of players. When coaches would write up the drills and say, “go there”, players would say , “why?” In and of itself, not an unreasonable request. The departure came during games as players try to revert. At that point, the team is going to be a mess. Without the willingness to buy in or trust coaching, things unravel. At some point, players on a winning team have to trust the coach enough to be a part of the vision. |
