Nicolas Hague 21 year old 6'6, 220 pound left handed defenseman or next years 1st round pick not lottery protected...maybe both although i'm not sure they would do both. - dcz28
I floated that Hague might be a good get if the Wings took on MAF. I am not so sure now...that is a lot of salary for a position that does not have to eat up so much salary for the next 2-3 years. If Vegas eats even $1M, I would feel better about it bur $2M would be much better |

I don't think cap space matters that much, it's only for 2 years and the Wings have more money coming off the books next off-season. If it was for 3 or more years then yes i would mind.
Hague and maybe a pick i would be good with to take on 2 years of Fleury. If Fleury doesn't want to play for the Wings maybe they eat part of his cap hit and deal him for more assets. |

I liked the comment that GM’s are more likely to show their hands months before the draft, and lie/deflect the closer it gets. A lot of chat early about the wings selecting Perfetti so that’s my pick at #4- but with Yzerman - who knows !! |

If Vegas buys out Fleury it will cost them 2.5M, 3M, 2M and 2M against the cap these next 4 years. Not too shabby. It's not like they MUST trade him because they legit could buy him out for less than the Luongo recapture.. so it's not like they'll get bent over in any trade.
I don't see any scenario where MAF plays for Detroit, so if they're simply going to retain some salary and move him on to (picks random destination: Colorado) they will probably end up with two late 2021 2nds (one from each team), because a trade like this won't happen til after the draft.
So if this scenario plays out, it's say $6M in real world dollars for two late 2021 2nds (around 55-60 OA). That's good cap management and in line with what they got for Staal.

I get a feeling he will go to NYR, they need a 2C, Probably in a 3-way trade.

I've said this a brazillion times, DET needs a GOOD G prospect. I seriously like Rossi & Drysdale, but we need a solid G....Askarov is the best G to be in a draft since....well for a long time. I know it's a risk, no more risky than any other draft decision. Take a flyer on Askarov, 2-3 yrs (just about the time our rebuild is coming to fruition) we could have a stud in net. Until then, sign Greiss (2.47, .921 over the last 2 season). He's 34, so we won't have to carry him forever, or pay out the *** (made $3.3m on his last contract, probably get him for something a bit lower) to carry the water w/Bernie and groom Askarov (or.....Patera) to be the G of the future. - mcmastermike1968

It's the Pens fault. They should've signed Garfunkel. Here's to you Mister Rutherford. You signed Jack Johnson and now you've sent him away. Hey hey hey...
