Pretty sure he played in the same league as Stutzle and compared well (not the same, but well).

Hey Duff. I admire the never-ending support for Askarov. Good on ya for never wavering.

The good news for him is that he doesn't have to answer to any of us. Just a GM, some coaches and his teammates.

When Dan Hampton was drafted by the Bears the pick was booed. The crowd yelled "2nd round." He made the Hall of Fame before Dent.

They knew Jersey was going to take Schneider and now they reached for Russian defender.

Ho hum. Nothing to look forward to again this season. It's called rebuilding. Hawks were gifted into the playoffs this past year.

Can somebody please kidnap Bowman and send him to La La land where all pieces of Sh!t play hockey. This is the final straw for me. Having been a STH since 1979 I can finally tell the Blackhawks management that Bowman is the reason why I will never go to another game as long as this piece of SH!!!T runs the club. He has no idea of how to build or construct a hockey team!

In a room with bright lights in his face and you brandishing some brass knuckles?
- HawkintheD

No. Stan gets really excited to have skill players. He probably thought, but Dach is very skilled too

I want to hear him say that they shied away from LaPierre. I am curious why not Mercer. Maybe they just so enamorated over Reichel

What is your take

Reichel is a pro-ready player and the maturity in his game shows. A very good skater, he is a treat to watch gliding all over the ice with a fast-top speed as well as very solid mobility. Smooth overall skater who re- lies on his solid skating tech- niques with very fluid strides. Possesses silk-smooth hands and can handle the puck very nicely, constantly putting the effort in to get to the tough parts of the ice and battle for puck pos- session. He displays great hockey sense and he always seems to be in the right place, getting to where he needs to be just slightly ahead of the play. He is strong along the boards, often coming out with the puck because of his excellent puck skills and tenacity. Didn’t find himself overwhelmed in this regard when faced with older, stronger, competition. He can use his quickness in small spaces to evade opposing players and find open space for himself. He has a good shot, and it is more effective because of the shot locations that he finds. If he isn't getting himself to the front of the net, he is camping out on the backside of the play, waiting for a pass to one-time into the back of the net. In the defensive zone, he plays a solid positional game and clogs passing lanes, not afraid to get in front of a shot. His excellent board play aids him in puck battles but he needs to try to stay on the inside of the puck in defensive zone so he doesn’t get turned around as frequently. Overall, a smart playmaker with high compete level. Future considerations

You know how everybody was downing Alex Nylander for not being able to cross over on his skates...this kid certainly can...

Thanks, Bill. Pretty positive projection.

What are his negatives?

Fair point again and I may be out of the scope... then why aren’t they still on the team in some fashion or another? I think I probably more pissed about the terrible decisions blowman has made.. if it isn’t his fault, the whose? It’s a roller coaster now with the cap in all that but since 15–
- bigfly46

Since '15, he's made some really good moves and some terrible head scratchers (like every GM). I think being upset about the Hawks drafting an 18 year old who has had some success playing against men is a bit premature.

sounds like he was moving up. one of the announcers mentioned he had him rates 22 I think but that he would probably go higher. Corey p had him mock at 20 but said
there was alot of buzz and he could go 5-7 higher.

I wasn't aware. On the NHl draft page, it says Stutzle played for Mannheim and Reichel played for Berlin.

They played on the same line on the World Jr team, I believe is what he meant.

From Elite Prospects ....

He's an unrelenting forechecker & backchecker, never gives up on a play, and wins battles through second efforts. Reichel is a pretty capable puck-handler too, even at top-speed carrying the puck through a defender's triangle, showing a predilection for outside-in maneuvers, and deploying weight shifts to avoid contact.

Just a guess, but likely because he only had 24 pts in 42 games. For comparison, Stutzle had 34.

Hey J. You probably watch or pay more attention to some of this stuff than I do, but one thing Bowman and Kelly have generally gotten right is their first round pick when they've had one...especially drafting higher than 20.

Last year after the top 2 opinions were all over the place on who should go three and who the Hawks would take. Time will tell if Dach was the absolute best pick at 3 but it's looking pretty good so far,

My point being with Reichel is that after the top 10 picks opinions varied wildly with the next 10-15 picks so I'll give it time to pan out.

NJ - Shakir Mukhamadullin - 6'4" 178 lbs.

Sheesh, and we thought Dach was reedy.

Agreed, lets give this pick a couple years before we start judging. I was surprised, but I’m liking this pick more and more.

And at this point, Dach is comparable to the first two players picked last year.
