Who I want - Holloway, but I don't think he will be there.
Who I think they will draft - Lapierre, because I believe he will be the best player available.
Who I would be miffed at them taking - Gunler. Eff that guy. I'm sure he's a perfectly fine human, but I just don't like what I've read and seen from him. In what I've seen, he relies far too heavily on others to do the dirty work to get and keep the puck. He is a good finisher and can make plays, but I would stay away from a guy who doesn't seem to be able to either carry the puck in, or get it back. - Chunk
Ok Chuck what other players would like the to draft if holloway is not there at 17? Agree with you on gunler hawks need like Theo said high compete and IQ players not slackers. |

Did strome fully heal from his ankle injury might have something to due with his poor play or not. - Scott1977
He said himself he came back too soon during the season, but that he was fine during Return-to-Play. Fair enough, but with the cap the way it is and what he has shown thus far (and with Dach presumably passing him up), I'd still just give him a minimum QO, or if someone else wants to sign him as an RFA we at least get comp'd. |

There was at least a 3 month lay off from the full stop of the regular season and the play ins where he was even less noticeable.
If an ankle injury didn't heal in that time he may think of going the big Buff route then. |

Few will argue with this. However:
Gentlemen (and ladies - I didn't mean to be presumptuous), to paraphrase Q, no one likes being right more than me. That said, let's not go down this road. There are plenty of other hockey related topics to discuss right now. This stuff just ends up getting everyone up in a tizzy.
Cheers.
Pretty Please?

Hearing new “target date” of Jan 1 is being planned for by NHL/NHLPA. This does not guarantee season starting New Year’s Day, but replaces Dec 1 as the current target. (Potential training camp would be beforehand.) This could change in the future — but that is where we stand now. |

Not Friedman but heard this being discussed on the NHL Network the other day, and that if that ends up being the case, maybe the season ends up resembling what it was in 2013. |

The goalie market is really strange. First of all, if you are looking at trading for a goalie, why would you trade for Murray? So many negatives, and few recent positives.
Second, unless you NEED to move out another contract, why would you move assets when there are so many tenders available as FA's that would at a minimum be serviceable?
CO interested in Crow, now Washington interested in Lundqvist (per Ek ). The big guns seem to be looking at the more experienced goalies? Who knows. Tonight will be interesting. - Chunk
Lots of big UFA names still available, and I have to imagine they were seeing dollar signs after last years signings (Bobrovsky). Could just be a reluctance to sign for cheap until “the other guy” does.
If Lundqvist signs on the Cheap in Washington I would expect it to hurt the earning power of the remainders. |

If not the two I previously mentioned, I like Rodion Amirov. He's a bit light (listed now at 168), but I'm hoping that's just because he is malnourished.
A completely out-of-left-field one is Lukas Reichel. I like the bloodline (Uncle is Robert Reichel) and here is a decent write-up:
A well-balanced and agile skater with excellent vision, a deadly shot, and playmaking skills, Reichel is a German Elite League regular who has performed well above expectations for the Berlin Polar Bears. He’s got breakaway speed and lateral quickness, and good things happen once he can get into open ice.
Reichel has bounced between Berlin’s second and third line, plus a regular role on the second power play unit...His quick thinking and first step are two critical aspects to his overall game. Reichel wins a lot of 50/50 puck battles and his speed puts a lot of pressure on opposing blueliners, especially in the chip-and-chase game.
Being a smart and alert player seems to come naturally for Reichel, and the fact that his coach has used him in late/close situations supports that. Although he wasn’t a regular on the penalty kill, Reichel has the smarts, foot speed, and stamina to be groomed for checking scenarios.
Reichel is an excellent stickhandler in traffic and along the boards.
The primary weapons in Reichel’s arsenal are his hands and his shot. He can release an accurate attempt off the pass via a short windup, but Reichel also has shown the ability to make rapid changes to the angle of his shot. Additionally, Reichel can blister shots high to the short side in addition to picking that far corner, this leaving goalies at a significant disadvantage.
I'm sure Wiz has more/better information on him, but overall he sounds like a good sleeper (if picked ahead of projection). |

Also can we briefly acknowledge the silliness of Laine in Boston OR Philly? Guy has insane talent, but those might be the two worst fits fanbase/style-wise. |

Wonder what Tampa will have to give as a sweetner for someone to take 4 more years at $5 mil.

The King's base salary this year before his buyout was 4.5M. Because of the buyout, he's receiving 1.5M this year and 1.5M next year from the Rangers. So he can afford to be signed cheaply, say 3M for one year and still be money ahead.

The suggestion also came up that if games were played in bubbles that Mayberry (happy autocorrect accident...meant maybe) they could squeeze in a few more games due to there being less travel.
Guessing you may have the same misgivings about player safety and agree that they shouldn’t cram extra games in at the expense of player safety.

Brisebois and Yzerman I assume are still on a good relationship and the Wings have the cap space. Maybe Johnson liked Yzerman as his previous GM and put Detroit on his trade list. Detroit gets a sweetener in the deal and some veteran leadership for his team while rebulding. If Johnson has anything left in the tank in a couple of years he could be flipped at a TDL for more assets.

In a bubble? I can't see that happening. Like baseball and football they will have to trust the players to do the best they can. |

If Johnson waives his NTC once does that mean it no longer exists going forward? If so, then he would be eligible to be claimed in the Seattle expansion draft, right? |

I would depend on the wording of the NTC in the contract. Some are voided after being traded others are not. |

I believe the team he is traded to has the option to continue honoring the NTC. Some team did that recently with a player but, I can't remember who.

Per Craig Morgan, the Coyotes will not be extending a qualifying offer to Vinny Hinostroza, making him a UFA.
Stan Bowman is out there working the phones with his agent right now probably. |
