Anyone I was really hoping would be available at that spot is gone, so I'm good. I'd take Zary from what's left. - Tojo.
I would have loved Zary but no real huge value drops we missed out on. At least we have Kap. |

In other news, I hope Lundqvist signs with WSH so the Pens can continue to terrorize him on the regular. - Hockey66
This. I think the Pens broke "baby stuff" back in '16. |

Everyone who watches hockey nowadays thinks everything is an overpayment for every player except bonafide 1st line scorers. Fantasy sports culture has completely taken over. - Grinder47

JMO... We have 4.7 mil in space. I think JR will find a cheap RW option before things settle out. - madmike71
Gotta keep 4.49999 open until Murray goes. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Pens can walk away from the arbitration ruling right? If so... I think that's the likely course at this point....unfortunately. If Murray turns down 5x5, he's in for a rude awakening. I don't see how he does better after 3 straight bad to mediocre seasons. Not to mention the tight cap and 500 goalies on the market. I think he's insane for not taking that deal. |

That got me to thinking, maybe CHI and the Pens have a deal in place to let him go to arbitration and whatever it is (obviously less than 5x5), then the Pens trade him to CHI. Granted, it will only be a 1-2 year deal, but maybe that works out better for CHI anyway, especially if Murray sucks after he gets there. Although Murray might be a little salty and not want to sign an extension there after this episode.
I'm thinking Murray gets A LOT more tradeable after arbitration. His agent might be doing him a big disservice. |

Pretty cool a guy with the first name of Hendrix. I wonder if his parents are fans of Jimi? |

Didn't think of that. You're probably right. End result is a short term "prove it" contract that is much more attractive.
Pens slap him around in arbitration in hopes of keeping his salary down.....then ship him off really pissed off.
When will this arbitration hearing take place? |

So Caps took the plunge. Was wondering where he'd go. Top ten talent with 3 diagnosed concussions already that had people scared. |

If Chicago was willing to give him 5x5, they'd probably still want him after arbitration. Might not get a 2nd back without the long-term deal, but I don't see how he'd be untradable. |

Probably not a good idea on a team with Tom Wilson when the opposition starts taking runs in retaliation. |

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if it lowers or raises his trade value. Of course, we will never know what his trade value was, other than probably not a 1st. |

Imagine if there was a team out there with a boatload of capspace and no budgetary concerns?
Imagine the haul of picks they could rake in for taking the last year or 2 of an overpaid player. Do 3 50% salary retentions on overpaid guys and trade them for more value
And sometimes the players aren't even trash, they just make too much for a cap strapped team

Rodion Amirov is arguably the best player in the draft and an absolute steal!!!
The Pens could have had him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Hockey66
Pair him up with the "could have had" Klim Kostin and we'd have 2/3rds of an AHL 2nd line!

Apparently Athanasiou not getting an offer. Seems like he’d be a guy you want on the 3rd line |
