I think it was a great pick. Schneider was best player on the board and it’s likely Devils were going for him.

Absolutely agree. The Rangers aren’t going to find a 2C for the next few years in this draft. They need to make a trade or sign one in free agency.

Why Toronto or Edmonton didn’t take him is baffling to me.

He was born two days too late for last years draft. Won’t be too long.

you think it means a d trade?

Whatever Schneider winds up, it won't be worse than taking the 58th ranked prospect right behind him. The Devils didn't have a plan if Schneider wasn't there at 20? They just decided to throw a dart at a dartboard that said "defensemen"?

Bratt and a 1st for Schneider

A third round pick (who would probably never make the nhl) to move up and get one of the top 3 or 4 dmen in the draft is a great move.

Where is Tom at, he lives for draft day and hating every pick we did

Did he get a lifetime ban? Really enjoyed his take until his grandfather died and he went off the deep end.
Hope he is doing well.

How many times did we talk about taking the best player available on this blog the last few months? Every mock draft I saw had Schneider going higher than 19.

Should have been our pick
- mdw7413

He was misdiagnosed with concussions so that's not really an issue; however, his overall numbers really aren't that great so ... we'll see. Caps knew the doc that looked at him so I think that helped.

I just think it wasn't the smartest pick based on the teams needs. And yeah, last time I heard big physical defenseman not overly offensive, didn't work out so well.

I need to see what RD thinks

- mdw7413

He had 58 pts in 64 games last year. He tough, good skater( Not like MCclarth), and has a good shot.only 1-2 draft picks make an impact in NHL the year after they are drafted.

No one in draft is helping the Rangers next season, beside Laferniere( hopefully).saying this kid wasn't a good pick because he's not NHL ready is clueless. Want to give other reasons, then fine, but that is ridiculous.

Yea looking at a lot of mock drafts they have Schneider going anywhere from 12-19. So it is solid value. I just hope this means a D trade is coming

It will be interesting. If any of those centers turn out really good, it will be another missed opportunity.

For reference, Mcilrath never scored more than 24 in the WHL. Schneider almost doubled that last year
