And to repeat, it's not that Quinn is a bad prospect, but when a fan base has been subjected to mismanagement for years, they have every right to feel skeptical when a consensus mid-first round pick gets taken at No. 8 ahead of two consensus top-six picks, one being his own teammate who led the CHL in scoring.
It wouldn't surprise me if Rossi was part of the Staal trade - "if he's there, don't take him" kind of thing.
Or not idk.
Can we get some trades now? |

After looking at what the Sabres have in prospects, Quinn fits what we need in our young core of players. We now have 2 young “snipers” to mold (Olaffsson and Quinn) with hopes of 1 of at least panning out. With a high pick like this I felt it was more of a need to go with a winger as we have Cozens whom the goal is to mold right behind Eichel for years to come hence bringing in Staal. So yeah we sit here wanting Rossi or Perfetti but really do we want to use a 1st round pick to mold a 3rd line center??? To me you can find that in the 2nd -4th rounds. Ideally you want to hit with your 1st to be a top 6 player not a top 9. So Quinn made more sense on Adams’ perspective to take than another Center. |

It seemed to me that everyone knew who they were taking prior.
Many looked to be prerecorded early on so it wouldn’t surprise me if that was part of a side deal. |

Means nothing unless they develop them properly and put them in positions to succeed.
We were Ottawa once. Tons of picks, prospects, yada, yada.
We were going to be great, too. |

Tampa has 4.6M in cap and they need to sign Cernak, Cirelli and Sergachyev. Among others.
I think GMs are putting their hands up with other GMs trying to pawn high salaries/caps onto them. When trades happen, people are going to be very surprised how little value the team gets in return for the 4,5,6,7M players. - TheSabresTaco
Well I think the hold up has been the ask.. They wanted quality picks for players like Tyler Johnson, who is clearly a cap dump to at least Tampa at this point. He could be serviceable for that contract somewhere else getting more ice time, but they really need to take a hard look at what they expect to get in return for sub par players the past couple years just because they have a shiny new piece of jewelry to accompany them to their next stops. |

I think you nailed it with the last paragraph and I would say this isn’t a bad pick by any means. There’s also some large question marks around the two Centers and with cozens being groomed to take the 2C spot it makes sense to fill out your top six right wing spot. Personally I would have went with Jarvis in this spot with that in mind, but that’s another player in the high risk high reward category. At the end of the day these are all lottery tickets and we’ve seen players that were bonafide top 5 picks not do anything in the pros so only time will tell.
If I was a sabres fan one thing I would look for in Quinn this upcoming season is to balance out the goals and assists. The NHL is a harder place to score goals so to work on his playmaking will help in transition to the nhl |

If that was the case, I'm not thrilled with it. But why wouldn't they just have made that part of the trade. I don't think anyone would have been too upset with it, seeing as Staal is clearly better and signed for less. To move back one and still get the same players that they got (and actually would have saved Buf some face TBH) |
