You keep saying that.
IS it just a gut feeling or is it, "in teh know" - ImThatGuy
I will just say I know there talking with a few teams, and if things work out, we will be a better hockey team. |

Imagine balking over a $3-3.5 Million contract for a 2nd/3rd line player that is actually good. |

Max would have been 3.5 Million dollars for one year..... AND THEY STILL COULD HAVE WORKED ON A CONTRACT even if they qualified him.
Its a terrible decision. - ImThatGuy
You have to negotiate the new deal before the arb hearing. Once the arb award comes out you are stuck with it unless it's above the walk-away threshold. |

Yeah, letting him walk for nothing is a bad look, no doubt. But they genuinely like the player and want to keep him, at an appropriate cost. As Adams stated, it's a surefire gamble. - TheSabresTaco
If it was someone who had played with the team for a while or was drafted by them then the player may feel more loyal and feel that they should work on a contract
But kahun played what 10 games with the sabres so he may not feel that attached and could go to a contender
It is a risk |

yes i know that
The Arb hearing wouldn't be for a least a month and you have all that time to negotiate that contract. |

But you can't walk away from that 3.5mill. Yeah they could work on a contract but why would Kahun take anything less than that in negotiations. |

wrong as of right now. NFL is hoping the Titans have two clean days tomorrow and Saturday and the game can be held on Monday or Tuesday. The Chiefs game would then be moved from Thursday to Saturday. Still all up in the air depending on test results for the Titans tomorrow and Saturday |

While subsequently giving $3-3.5M to a redundant position on our roster whom also does not look good at all analytically.

They have a rink manager acting as GM. What do people expect?
He's out to prove he's smart and can save daddy money and will inevitably make wrong decision after wrong decision
Hopefully he does something to get fired before the Eichel trade |

But from a negotiating standpoint, the agent would never agree to a new deal with arbitration on the table. He has all the leverage. The worst case scenario for Kahun at arbitration is the contract he already rejected. I mean, I guess the Sabres could just capitulate and overpay Kahun by so much that he re-signs, but then we'd all want to murder GMKA.
If you're an arb-eligible player that can actually play hockey in the NHL and won't get an award >$4.6M, there's literally 0 incentive to not go to arbitration. You will get at least what you've already rejected. |

No what he is saying is that Kahun can be a value contract, like what Reinhart has been for us the past two years.

That's what I think he's worth, not a arb., again EROD got 2mill so who knows what Kahun would have gotten. |

That would be awesome. I think the Sabres and most fans don't think Kahun at $3.5M is a value contract, though.
If you do, I get why you're upset. |

I understand that, but 3.5 isn't a value contract right know for Kahun. |
