They offered him a multi year deal sub $2M AAV.

He balked.

So now we are trusting our organization whom can’t seem to value their own players properly to go out into UFA and use that additional cap space to do what exactly ?

They are penny pinching with him, which is fine, but they have no trouble playing multiple other players who are a detriment to the on ice results of the team.

That's the confounding and frustrating part of being a Sabres fan.

Seriously. If you want to go cheap, sell Risto for a 3rd

Sell Ristolainen and Montour for futures if money is the ultimate concern.

Neither are much more than mediocre on the ice, despite having a world of physical talents.

We’re gonna do nothing in UFA. It’s obvious

They will count on Mitts, Asplund, Thompson, and CJ Smith to play key roles in the middle six, and boy will they be disappointed

"Nothing" or nothing?

I agree they may do "nothing" like Haula instead of Hall, but they will do more than nothing

They will sell off the best one (Colin Miller) because Ralph doesn’t like him, and add a mediocre goalie and call it an offseason

Remember when last year we were like - there’s no way Sobotka, Scandella, Risto, Okposo, Girgensons are ALL coming back, right? And they all did.

Why would Haula come here? Are they overpaying for him, but penny pinching on a player who’s substantially better in Kahun?

They’re doing nothing.

I predict a very underwhelming UFA add and a Colin Miller for a goalie trade

Unless Adams decides to move the players that are overpaid and under producing, it applies to him as well.

I don’t have the Patreon to Expected Buffalo.

However Chad D. mentioned today that was the info that was relayed to him about the negotiations.

The same owners still own the team, and that is the unfortuante commonality.

Lending a helping hand:

The thing about this that I’m still a little off on is the valuation the Sabres have set on Kahun. They think Thompson, who hasn’t shown he’s an NHL player yet, is worth $1.4 million.

Yet Kahun who is at the very least a 30 point good 5v5 scoring 3W is worth less than 2.

Perhaps you’re banking on potential w/ Thompson and that’s fine. However, do you not bank on a player hitting their prime years improving or at worse continuing to be a 30-40 point player?

He scored at a 45 points per 82 games pace last season. Idk maybe he re-signs & it’s moot

Do we know they think he is less than 2mil?

Yes, I was told this last night and put it in the article today I wrote.

There's not, but as you said, it happens anyway.

Pretty sure they now allow a talking period where they can gauge interest but no contract proposals now.

We all know proposals are presented anyways.
