This is a really solid post.

Same people that argued kahun was a 2nd liner (39) in some posts.

The Sabres are not "over paying" for a decent player.

Congratulations for once to the Sabres.

Crags, could I borrow a few internet points, I believe they sign him to a reasonable 2/3 year deal soon. I'm just out of points.

Pretty sure they now allow a talking period where they can gauge interest but no contract proposals now.

We all know proposals are presented anyways.

Usually is, something like 4 days, but not this year with FA starting so quickly after the draft.

Lending a helping hand:

The thing about this that I’m still a little off on is the valuation the Sabres have set on Kahun. They think Thompson, who hasn’t shown he’s an NHL player yet, is worth $1.4 million.

Yet Kahun who is at the very least a 30 point good 5v5 scoring 3W is worth less than 2.

https://twitter.com/CMDeD.../1314215067123032065?s=19

Perhaps you’re banking on potential w/ Thompson and that’s fine. However, do you not bank on a player hitting their prime years improving or at worse continuing to be a 30-40 point player?

He scored at a 45 points per 82 games pace last season. Idk maybe he re-signs & it’s moot

https://twitter.com/CMDeD.../1314215671534809089?s=19

Do we know they think he is less than 2mil?

Yes, I was told this last night and put it in the article today I wrote.

Size, speed and skill is the way the league is going. Thompson has that and Kahun will be fine if they sign him but they may be looking for someone else who has size, speed and skill via trade or UFA. Kahun is sub 6 ft and 175 which is comparable to others wings they have. I know you won't like this but it does take a village to build a team and not all virtual hockey midgets.

I have no problem with Thompson. I think he will ultimately be a value player in year two or three of that deal.

I’m expecting big things from Adams at this point.

We needed two top 9 forwards to begin with and we just let another one walk.

It's cool that we're once again playing the game of oh this player also isn't good after the Sabres make a questionable decision

It still comes down to poor asset management.

You qualify him thus retaining his rights.

You can negotiate all the way up until the arb award.

You can also move his rights up until then.

Kahun and the love is just like every other player who is available on this site that everyone falls in love with. So and so was cut "let's sign him"

Chad IloveaRicharditisupmyasitis LOVED Montour too. He is just like everybody else, Joe fan except with a connection in some Sabres office.

Or he’s an asset and at the very least you move his rights for another asset.

You don’t just let a guy walk for free when you control the asset.

If he gets a 3 million dollar arbitration offer how was the asset management?

At what point does what you actually produce on the ice matter more than the measurable traits you listed?

Also, Kahun has speed and skill.

You just attempted to claim that Tage is better than Kahun due to literally his height.

I'm not so sure your opinion is a great one.

I know you might not like hearing that.

It buys you time to move him.

Someone would take him for a 5th.

At the very least he’s someone else’s problem.

Drake Caggiula didn't get a qualifying offer from Chicago prior to Wednesday's deadline, per Scott Powers of The Athletic.
Caggiula can test the waters as an unrestricted free agent on Friday as a result. Slater Koekkoek and Malcolm Subban reportedly didn't receive qualifying offers from the Blackhawks as well, which would free up them up to sign anywhere too. Alexandre Fortin, Jacob Nilsson, Ian McCoshen and Joni Tuulola weren't expected to get QO's either. Nilsson and Tuulola already have contracts with teams in Europe for 2020-21.

Kind of shocked at that one.

If they were all jumping off a bridge, should the Sabres follow?
