I think I saw that. I'm good with it for a year. mn was decent this year with him and stall as 1 and 2 centers. gotta think it might work here with them as 2 and 3 cs. |

I haven't been here in a while to read, it's tough around here 😂.
Draft was ok for the most part, I can understand it, but this Girgensons/Kahun fiasco is so bad. |

Totally agree with Vogl.

Sabres' entire offseason: Firings. Furloughs. Money is tight. Fiscal responsibility. Internal cap.
Eve of free agency: A 37 percent raise to Zemgus Girgensons. For three years.
Everything - everything - we've heard from agents and hockey folks is the stalled cap will drive down the middle class. Stars will get money. Rookie deals will be used. But middle class will suffer.
Either it's all crap or Sabres seriously misread market.
Zemgus Girgensons is only 26.
He's signed deals with FOUR general managers for same team.
I can't imagine many players in NHL history can say that. |

My stab at it is that they gauged the defensive forward market and found him to be a very strong winger at a reasonable UFA price and actually wants to be here.
I'm not #TeamZemgus or anything, just trying to rationalize it. Don't shoot me.
I know he's spoiled milk. I know he represents everything we hate about this franchise. But he is a strong defensive winger that, and try not to laugh, tries hard every night. Based on the draft, you can see what they're aiming for with their players. Consistent effort 100% of the time. None of these guys (Quinn, Peterka, Constantino) have effort questions about them. No Nylanders. |

You are not getting a big kahuna burger. You ain’t even getting a royal with cheese. If you are LUCKY. Lancaster speedway might turn on the grill for you and make you a hockey puck... best worst burger in town.... or they were 15 years ago.... which should be just about right for this team . |

Girgensons and Risto are just hitting their stride 8-9 years into their careers here. Give it more time |

It's going to be interesting to track how many signings are raises, by how much, and by groupings of players (top players, middle class, economy class).
Girgensons is economy class. |

Yep. This year will be extremely fascinating. I heard earlier this week that 3-4 teams were interested in Girgensons too. That matters.

This season was the perfect time to shed some of the old guard and explore other options and save some money. Resign Kahun, let our overpriced 4th liners go, trade Sam, Montour and Risto imo should have been the plan. |

Ristolainen, Girgensons, Okposo, McCabe, Reinhart, Eichel all here from the team that finished last place 3 seasons ago under a different GM. About 30% of the roster
The Bills have 1 guy left from a roster of 52 from the previous GM 3 years ago.

Our top 6 is pretty much settled. Our bottom 6 is Thompson, Girgensons, Okposo and Lazer Larry as the 13th forward. You need a winger and 2 centers. I'm a bit unsure about the fit for Toffoli, if you want Cozens with Staal, I mean are you gonna pay a guy 6+ M to play on the third line?

We get the lockport log burger. It's a plant based patty that is relatively inexpensive and although it technically fits the description of sustenance, it's not very exciting and it's ceiling in advanced tastiness metrics is just meh. Unless you add olives.

Not sure about fit?
If you get Toffoli, you play him on the first or second line and Cozens is on the 3rd line, because one guy is a rookie and the other guy has years of quality production. |

Sure, that's fine. Then we need 2 centers and Kahun becomes an asset we could have sold the rights to instead of letting him walk. What happens if Cozens outplays Toffoli this year. Just a scenario. Or what happens when the team wants Cozens with Staal? |
