We get the lockport log burger. It's a plant based patty that is relatively inexpensive and although it technically fits the description of sustenance, it's not very exciting and it's ceiling in advanced tastiness metrics is just meh. Unless you add olives.

Only if 100% of the plants base comes FROM Lockport!

You really think so?

Return to sender, buy Craig Smith

He'd be cheap though, and it would allow us to spend on a winger.

$5.5M is a bit expensive, but for one season and a 5th round pick, it would work.

As has been reported in multiple places, WIN has a deal on the table for Paul Stastny. It sounds similar to the Ryan Murray deal from yesterday, but we will see exact construction once it closes. Jets were considering all options before closing....

Mother(frank)er! Go get him!

And, one name that isn’t the biggest — but will is gaining traction — is FLA’s MacKenzie Weegar. Right-shot D who is arbitration eligible. I think there is interest, and he is exactly the type of player TOR would look at. Enjoy the day!

Sabres need to sell some excess on their D to make a little room.

Man we really are going for an all start team from a decade ago. All star staal. All star koivu. All star gus. We just need Flury and a defensive relic to round it out.

If the Blue Jackets can somehow attract UFA’s and make moves to get better there’s 0 excuses for the Sabres.

Columbus isn’t exactly anyone top destination

- sbroads24

They make the playoffs and they have Torts.
We haven’t made the playoffs in 10 Franking years and we fire scrub coaches every couple of years.
Not an excuse... it’s common Franking sense
WE SUCK

I know I don't broadcast it, but I am praying for multiple trades to change the blood on this team.

not sure he's got much left in there. The leadership would be nice, but not at the cost of taking up a 3C spot.

Pretty sure there is because the original contract was signed by the Sabres. I’m not sure what it is though. This is why he should get ltir (ie- Savard, Horton, Hossa) It just might have to be after the next concussion, sadly. Just move him to Ellis’s harbor center position after the LTIR.

With respect to the question of a recapture penalty if Okposo retired.
I'm no Cap expert, but from quick research I did a couple weeks ago, there should not be a recapture penalty.
Recaptures happen when a player retires who had a front-loaded contract I which the Actual pay exceeds the AAV...then the difference becomes the recapture amount spread over the remaing term
Pretty sure I have that right.

Okposo did not have a front-loaded contract. It is relatively Buyout proof for another 2 seasons though, so he would need to retire ... doesn't look like that will be the case this season.

Do you really think he goes through an entire season without a concussion?

Edit: and thanks for the research on this one!

The research is wrong as Okposo's contract was front loaded to the tune of +$2M each of his first 2 seasons on his current deal.

Not to be a jerk, but I'll be a jerk for this post....

Freddie should have Pekar takes runs at him during Training Camp, several board rattling hits.

Anyone interested in Halua or Granlund? We are interested at both, one one happens. I just want change at this point.

Totally agree with Vogl.

https://twitter.com/Buffa.../1314519013892993024?s=19

Sabres' entire offseason: Firings. Furloughs. Money is tight. Fiscal responsibility. Internal cap.

Eve of free agency: A 37 percent raise to Zemgus Girgensons. For three years.

Everything - everything - we've heard from agents and hockey folks is the stalled cap will drive down the middle class. Stars will get money. Rookie deals will be used. But middle class will suffer.

Either it's all crap or Sabres seriously misread market.

Zemgus Girgensons is only 26.

He's signed deals with FOUR general managers for same team.

I can't imagine many players in NHL history can say that.

- kingcong39

Maybe "actual" gms see his work ethic, day in day out.

2.2 for girgs is nothing to worry about.

My stab at it is that they gauged the defensive forward market and found him to be a very strong winger at a reasonable UFA price and actually wants to be here.

I'm not #TeamZemgus or anything, just trying to rationalize it. Don't shoot me.

I know he's spoiled milk. I know he represents everything we hate about this franchise. But he is a strong defensive winger that, and try not to laugh, tries hard every night. Based on the draft, you can see what they're aiming for with their players. Consistent effort 100% of the time. None of these guys (Quinn, Peterka, Constantino) have effort questions about them. No Nylanders.

Excellent post taco

The Sabres are done with players that cant give an all out effort night in and night out.

Sam and kahun are going to get a realistic evaluation.

Some of the fan base would remain Sabres fans with some f'in effort.

A few of you guys are dying on kahun island.
