I just realized..
Why the F did Bowman try to acquire Matt Murray and give him that 5x5 if the team wants to go young in net by giving the kids a shot? - TommyHawk
Going with the kids is likely Plan C.
Plan A: re-sign Crawford
Plan B: acquire young goalie
Pan C: go with in-house solution

Maybe he is just posturing and still wants to get a reliable net minder. Announcing to the hockey world we need a full time goalie isn't going to help the price of signing/acquiring one.
A lot of unknowns due to COVID. More so than normal.

Who knows. With all this chaos today, do you now trade Saad and try to acquire MAF or sign Markstrom?? - z1990z
No if you're sticking with the kids as Bowman says he is, then you stick with the kids.
Let them see if they can stick, otherwise the team will continue to lose which will help draft status. How many more losses would we have had if we didn't have Crow or Lehner this past season? We wouldn't be Detroit bad, but I think a top-5 pick would have been in reach. I expect that to be the case next season.

With these made up rules (if the season is played partially), I don't trust any kind of a draft lottery.

Well, sad to see CC go. This flat cap must meant he priced himself out of the Hawks budget. The team could be interesting to watch next year... |

He believes Murray is pretty good. He is also young. I.do not believe he would have given him 5 x 5. I do not believe each report that comes out. 5x5 for often injured?

If you want to blow it up, Keith (if he waives NMC) de Haan & Murphy are all tradeable with their current salary & term.
Here's your backend and goaltending
Gilbert - Boqvist
Kalynuk - Mitchell
Carlsson - Beaudin
Koekkoek (resigned for vet experience)
Lankinen
Delia
(or Subban if you'd prefer)
Thay should get you a top 3 pick next draft. |

So what will be the return for Saad?
Does he get moved before the season starts? Or at the TDL?
Who else gets moved? Dehaan? Murphy?
Blow it up... Wish Stan could have come to this realization 2 years ago, when we had discussed it..... |

I don't know if he offered Murray that, remember it was Stan who walked away after being given permission to work out a deal.

About time...two to three years too late. However, better late than never.
Would imagine conversations have already been had w 2 19 and 88. Would look to move 2. At this point, keeping him around doesn't do them any good if there is a nice return to be had for him and his lofty contract.
If there are teams hot for Saad, move him.
Move Murphy, DeHaan, and anybody else with some value. This team isn't winning anything soon. Happy that they are finally letting go of the past and looking forward. Sucks that they weren't able to get more for Lehner and not a thing for Crawford. Little concerned about Bowman handling a rebuild. |

If you have teams who want him NOW, move him. Hawks need to stop waiting for monster trade dead line moves where they end up not having any leverage. Force a team to pay up for his full service. |

Lehner signed for 5x5 the whole point here is stan assumed crow would take a hometown discount and that backfired. Regarding the reporting I wouldn't put much stock into whats being said . At times it was mixed signals - Taylorst1

But even if Stan walked away from the number that Murray's camp wanted, it was him that had those discussions with PIT and sought negotiation permission with Murray.
Clearly there was interest for a long-term deal, regardless of if it actually ended up panning out or not.
I get that Stan likes bringing in guys that already have term (Saad, AA, Murphy, Shaw), so it makes sense that he wanted a commitment from Murray, but the point here is that he was clearly *looking* outside of the organization for help. Which apparently contradicts what he said today.
Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. |

Will be another "not a real season" when you think about it, best time to do a complete blow up rebuild - vabeachbear
We just had a really deep draft, I would hope that if Stan would have really wanted to blow it up, he would have done it before/at the draft. Although, he also didn’t want to trade Gustafsson after the season....bc he was still trying to win now.
Next year is expansion draft....so they’ll be debating on buying out Seabrook or trading a 1st to Krakens to take contract. I really have no idea of what Stan is gonna do... so many NMCs. The positive is we aren’t Vegas or Tampa who might be REALLY in trouble with CAP & offer sheets.
As another mentioned, if the season gets ugly again...you start to think Keith at least might want to finish career playing for another Cup. To a lesser extent, Toews & Kane...but still in early 30’s, which also
Means they still have value (except for their cap hit). |

What about Saad at 50% retained and Nylander to the Avs for rights to Jost, Timmins, and Compher (maybe a conditional pick if Saad resigns?).
DeHaan to anyone that will take him for a pick
Strome to the Habs for Poehling and Mete
If we are getting Crazy, kane for Eichel and Toews for Ehlers. Send the boys home.
Sad day. Gonna miss Crow

Stecher is small and right handed and the hawks have enough righties to give a shot too not a fringe NHL dman |

Same here.
Kane is still one of the best so unless we get something of tremendous value, I'd hate to see him moved. - Popsghostly
I don't see towes or kane going but Keith at tdl yes Seabrook's contract is immovable so hawks are stuck with him. Need to make decisions on Murphy personally i keep unless deal comes cannot pass up and saad will be determined in the next couple weeks imo. |
