We just had a really deep draft, I would hope that if Stan would have really wanted to blow it up, he would have done it before/at the draft. Although, he also didn’t want to trade Gustafsson after the season....bc he was still trying to win now.
Next year is expansion draft....so they’ll be debating on buying out Seabrook or trading a 1st to Krakens to take contract. I really have no idea of what Stan is gonna do... so many NMCs. The positive is we aren’t Vegas or Tampa who might be REALLY in trouble with CAP & offer sheets.
As another mentioned, if the season gets ugly again...you start to think Keith at least might want to finish career playing for another Cup. To a lesser extent, Toews & Kane...but still in early 30’s, which also
Means they still have value (except for their cap hit). - DrewDawg
Short season next year, probably 48 games, so a bad year will not be as long a slog as a regular season, and probably all without fans. Next season, there is only 4 NMC (Kane. Toews, Seabrook, Keith). No way Stan gives away a #1 for Seabrook to be drafted. The league has learned from Vegas, it isn't the way to go.

assuming we do not trade for a $$ goalie would you give wennberg a 3 year 5 mil total deall? of the other young guys hitting the market. kahun, CAGG, keoke, veraghe are probably the best. galchenyuk and athanasiou have put up good numbers but are not very good as bottom 6 guys. dont know much about sterchter, benning, bowey, jankowski. if we do sign any of the younger guys I want guys that are at least ok in there own zone. we have enough that are not. |

I don't see towes or kane going but Keith at tdl yes Seabrook's contract is immovable so hawks are stuck with him. Need to make decisions on Murphy personally i keep unless deal comes cannot pass up and saad will be determined in the next couple weeks imo. - Scott1977

Going with the kids is likely Plan C.
Plan A: re-sign Crawford
Plan B: acquire young goalie
Pan C: go with in-house solution - DarthKane
Resign subban see what he can do think he is only 26 or around there. But they going with kids then why no trades at the draft or the conversations between team were scarce. Unusual times now in hockey covo19 flat cap uncertain fans in the stands and incoming revenue. Next 2 seasons might ugly but is necessary for the growth of hockey in the future. |

If you want to blow it up, Keith (if he waives NMC) de Haan & Murphy are all tradeable with their current salary & term.
Here's your backend and goaltending
Gilbert - Boqvist
Kalynuk - Mitchell
Carlsson - Beaudin
Koekkoek (resigned for vet experience)
Lankinen
Delia
(or Subban if you'd prefer)
Thay should get you a top 3 pick next draft. - scottak

What about Saad at 50% retained and Nylander to the Avs for rights to Jost, Timmins, and Compher (maybe a conditional pick if Saad resigns?).
DeHaan to anyone that will take him for a pick
Strome to the Habs for Poehling and Mete
If we are getting Crazy, kane for Eichel and Toews for Ehlers. Send the boys home.
Sad day. Gonna miss Crow - ikeane
If you are trading Saad, it is because someone called you and you are not retaining a single penny. IMO, there is no reason to shop Saad (at least right now). If someone comes by and blows you away with an offer, take it, but the only time I would actively look to trade him would be at the TDL.

But even if Stan walked away from the number that Murray's camp wanted, it was him that had those discussions with PIT and sought negotiation permission with Murray.
Clearly there was interest for a long-term deal, regardless of if it actually ended up panning out or not.
I get that Stan likes bringing in guys that already have term (Saad, AA, Murphy, Shaw), so it makes sense that he wanted a commitment from Murray, but the point here is that he was clearly *looking* outside of the organization for help. Which apparently contradicts what he said today.
Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. - TommyHawk
Trade saad before the season to whoever doesn't get hall play saad off those teams until bowman gets what he wants. Murphy and de hann keith at tdl contenders will be looking for defensive help. Imo |

I know, but if the reason for resigning him is for "vet experience"? Experience with what? Learning how to handle being in and out of the lineup? |

If any indication of the goalie situation, behind the same defense, no way you trade any future first rounders to get rid of Seabs.
Otherwise we’ll feel like shark fans during next year’s draft. |

Right now got to keep one of DaHaan, Murphy for expansion purposes, or sign KK to a 2 year $1mil. AAV contract to expose him.

About time...two to three years too late. However, better late than never.
Would imagine conversations have already been had w 2 19 and 88. Would look to move 2. At this point, keeping him around doesn't do them any good if there is a nice return to be had for him and his lofty contract.
If there are teams hot for Saad, move him.
Move Murphy, DeHaan, and anybody else with some value. This team isn't winning anything soon. Happy that they are finally letting go of the past and looking forward. Sucks that they weren't able to get more for Lehner and not a thing for Crawford. Little concerned about Bowman handling a rebuild. - frafra I'll bet you money that what you and a few others are talking about happening isn't what is going to happen. Integrating a few younger players into the lineup and trading off every vet on the team are two hugely different things and i doubt they can or try to trade the old core this off season.

Running on 2 hours sleep. In a disjointed way, trying to say that pieces like strome and Saad should bring back 2 pieces each if they want to expedite a rebuild. Can't afford more Nylander for Jokiharu trades
No more trade suggestions from me today haha |

Everyone is assuming this is the beginning of going into full rebuild mode. I am not so sure they do not sign a veteran free agent to the same type of contract they offered Crow. |

That is such a false narrative at this point. Hawks have 4-NMC's on the roster. Way less than a whole bunch of other teams.

Rocky Wirtz should not be confused with Dollar Bill Wirtz. I believe Rocky is a smart businessman and he is not worried about losing several mil for a few years. He does not like it or want to lose it, but he understands business cycles. Smart people with deep pockets know that sometimes it is best to buy when everyone else is selling.

Not really. 4 NMC and 2 M-NTC. About the norm compared to other teams in the league that don't have there names on The Cup.

The premise of trading the 3 veterans is very very far fetched (crazy/ridiculous). One maybe (and probably not Keith).
