Dont know. I am betting Wirtz is thinking about the Covid/fan revenue issue that will hit the NHL hard this coming season. He may be wanting to shed money issues which is why I think Saad gets moved here soon. - z1990z
Saad would bring $'s back not so easy. |

A little more than the 10% min. they owe him for a raise. I hope Stan remembers the mistake he made with Panik, overpaying before he had to.
But if Stan were to trade Saad which I don't think he will, all of that thinking goes out the window. |

Stan: I've got a slightly used Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith available, anyone interested?
If they get off to a slow start next season, it could get really ugly in the locker room. It's not a developmental league, if I remember correctly. - scottak
Meh. They ain't dummies. The know and understand what is going on. I don't put much into what is said after game when guys are frustrated. I look at their effort on the ice. Aside from Kane, who always had games where he looks disinterested, the other vets are out there giving their best. |

With these made up rules (if the season is played partially), I don't trust any kind of a draft lottery. - powerenforcer
No Doubt how dumb was it for a playoff team to get the 1st over all? |

i am thinking a 2 year deal at around 6-7M/ AAV. That seems fair to me. Gives a bump but says let's see what you got. |

The premise of trading the 3 veterans is very very far fetched (crazy/ridiculous). One maybe (and probably not Keith). - -Doh-
I'm not advocating it. But it is possible if they want to tear the thing down all the way to the studs before rebuilding. |

Would not be surprised to see $2.1, just to keep offer sheets honest? Frankly, the good kind of Frank, nothing would surprise me. |

assuming we do not trade for a $$ goalie would you give wennberg a 3 year 5 mil total deall? of the other young guys hitting the market. kahun, CAGG, keoke, veraghe are probably the best. galchenyuk and athanasiou have put up good numbers but are not very good as bottom 6 guys. dont know much about sterchter, benning, bowey, jankowski. if we do sign any of the younger guys I want guys that are at least ok in there own zone. we have enough that are not. - kmw4631
All of them re bottom 6 players. The Hawks have enough of those. |

This.
We thought we fleeced the Leafs with Panik who scored like 22 playing with the likes of Toews, Saad and Hossa.
Wish we had more than a year to see what Kubalik really is. |

Detroit has had the worst record in the league over the combined past 2 seasons, and the best spot they have drafted is #4.

I don't doubt their effort. The scenario I was alluding to was the Hawks getting off to something like a 2-8-0 start, and the vets thinking about their diminishing time left in the NHL and telling Stan to 'trade me right f*cking now' and then hanging up the phone. |

A year too late to commit to this.
Why trade for Shaw, de Haan, Maatta, and Smith last offseason then? Why sign Lehner?
Why did you think you could compete when you replaced a HOF coach with a rookie coach who had no prior coaching experience in NA? Would that not have signaled that an immediate rebuild was necessary?
I'm all for building this organization back up, but Stan continuing to teeter and mis-time the state of the organization, which is head-scratching. - TommyHawk

I got that but ask yourself this question. Do Kane, Keith and Toews strike you as that type of person? Kane, maybe. But I believe he is more loyal than we think. Plus, they are still getting paid. |

Champions want to compete, and have a chance to win. While we don't know the final roster yet, I'd give the Hawks a 50/50 chance of even making the playoffs next season. They clearly wouldn't have made it without the interruption this year.
Any of the 3 could be what a team on the cusp needs to get them over the hump. You could probably add Saad to that list as well. |

Hawks did a lot for those players i think it be private conservation and bowman asking if they want to chase another cup or stay and retire a blackhawk. |

Problem is no team in contention could take on that salary, and I do not believe Rocky would agree to any deal with salary retained.

You are a very generous GM, willing to pay him more than Pastrnak and some other very good wingers.
I say $4 - $4.5 per for 2 yrs. |

No offense, but none of us really have any idea what Rocky thinks about his money.
He has shown in the past to spend what it took to win, and believe he will again to
rebuild.
I understand its a down year or two for revenue, but honestly, it hasn't made a dent in his net worth.
Quicker the Hawks are back to being a consistent playoff team, the quicker all that money will roll in. He's been missing out on that for a few years now.
