While Sanderson won't be abe to play with Chabot, if he meets peoples expectations and can munch minutes, that will take a ton of pressure off Chabot so he doens't need to play 30 minutes a night. |

Leafs apparently tried to get Murray from Pittsburgh.
Sens got the 44th pick from a virtual draft floor deal with the Leafs.
I'm not sure the Murray deal makes a lot of sense for the Sens at this time.
Maybe Murray's stay in Ottawa will be short term.
I would certainly be open to doing a deal of Andersson for Murray. Murray apparently is asking for $6.5m. Why would Ottawa do that? |

It is curious. Is he a long term plan, for Ottawa? How many games will he get compared to Hogberg. |

who's gushing.....i'm just choosing to be positive about the last 2 days and take a "wait and see" stance, rather than jumping to conclusions on players i literally know nothing about (and don't pretend you do either), while whining and female doging about every move this team makes, which has become the norm for a lot of sens fans here. - sensarmy_11
Right, but claiming one guy is a sure-fire #1C, and the other is a can't-miss top pairing d-man is pretty much a textbook example of jumping to conclusions on players you literally know nothing about. It's also well beyond choosing to be positive, and in no way, shape, or form taking a "wait and see" stance. Had you actually done those things, I doubt we'd be going back and forth like this.

It would be totally out of character for the Sens to offer a $6.5m deal to a goalie who has struggled with his game. Hogberg played really well when ho took over for the injured Nilsson.
It just seems goofy to me

who knows what the moron is thinking these days...we will know what the sens have in mid with murray by his contract, IMO this is like slapping Hogberg in the face.... |

There is a HUGE difference between the players taken in the top 5, who we’ve been talking about, researching and watching for months now........and the guys taken late in the 2nd rd, who we’d never heard of until this morning. |

I like it . He is young. He has loads of experience. Such a crucial position when trying to build the confidence of a young D core and a young goalie core.. as long as term isnt stupid. I would rather have Murray then Nilsson or Anderson .hogberg isnt ready either for being #1 behind this defence |

Duclair not qualified....
|
|
|
|
Few points after catching up:
- I don't think people who seem frustrated with Dorion with this draft think it's a failure. When you look at the 2nd and 3rd rounds, they selected players that they probably could have got later in the draft. That's where the frustration lies for me. I like the Jarventie and Sokolov picks, but they probably could have had them later in the draft and also get a couple of other solid picks in the process. Remember, they lost a pick to select Kleven (weird pick, lets be honest) and a pick to get Murray. They could have selected Sokolov and Merilainen (even weirder pick) with those picks potentially (or other picks etc) while getting a couple of other bodies. There was a high probability that Merilainen wasn't even going to get drafted, let alone go in the 3rd round.
- There was a lack of aggression to land another first round pick or to move up from 28. It seemed to look dead easy to move picks in the later half of the first round. Lets face it, we land Lapierre last night and people are jizzing their pants in here.
- Not qualifying Duclair should be concerning. This is terrible asset management. Don't give me the "he asked for too much" excuse. They couldn't trade his rights for a 6th rounder? Anything? Some pucks? They knew they were going to have a tough negation with him after his solid season, why didn't they trade him at the deadline? Would have gotten a decent haul. Absolutely awful asset management. Melnyk makes it hard, but you have to get something for that guy.
- End of the day, I give Dorion a B- grade on the draft. That grade is mostly attributed to Stuzle. That kid looks like a star. There were some missed opportunities, some reaches, and some serious talent passed on. However, they did get some talent and pretty much should have solidified their defence one way or another for sometime. They still need to address the 1C position I think. It's premature to assume Stutzle will be that guy when he also plays wing. I just have never have heard of a franchise centre who also plays wing (other than power plays). It would also be nice to add some RW to the roster/prospect pool. |

why are you giving credit to the moron for picking stutzle? not counting Stutzle this is the worst draft in sens history.

I mean "credit" is a stretch. You can't ignore that the Sens got Stutzle. I know a monkey could have picked Stutzle but he is part of the draft day haul. Have to count it.
Worst draft day in Sens history? That's not even close to being true. 2002 might be the worst followed by 2005. However, it could be the worst in history or best. Have to give it 3-5 years time. |

Sorry, but Duclairs rights arent getting you anything. Like, not even a conditonal 7th.
I raise my eyebrows at not qualifying him, but if the rumors regarding hiw long a contract/term he wanted, it's not too surprising l. |

like i told the other guy, if all you're going to do is female dog about and criticize everything they do, then go cheer for another (frank)ing team so we don't have to listen to it. - sensarmy_11
Maybe that’s the problem.
Some of us have actually done research, so don’t put us in the same conversation as you.
Some of us don’t base rankings on..1 mock draft that favors your point.
I’ve read and watched videos on these guys, throughout the year, because I knew the Sens would suck. I’m already doing the same research for 2021.
Anyways, draft is done
Let’s hope we actually look back at this draft as a “franchise altering moment” and not a franchise missed opportunity

You can't let an asset like that walk. You hardly ever see that for RFA's. It's baffling. Not baffling if he was a UFA... |

also, to the bolded point, i'm the one who's happy they went off the board with a couple of their 2nd rd picks to take guys who have tremendous offensive potential......and you're the one here crying that they didn't stick to the rankings in the mock drafts.
you should probably read your posts before hitting submit, you can avoid situations like this.

I'm a bit torn about Duclair. I totally get the argument for qualifying him, and trying to maximize asset management. But his near-bipolar performance last year was evidence of why he's not necessarily a net benefit... especially if he's also going to become a contract diva. At some point they have to start taking their team culture and player development seriously enough to just move past whatever barriers present themselves, even if they bleed a bit of cash or a miss out on a few mid-round picks in the process. That's part of why I think the Ryan buyout was the right move, as was clearing out highly replaceable UFA-age players.
Regardless of what I think of some of their draft picks, the draft has been a very welcome net positive for the team, and they need to keep building on the momentum. If they can quietly sign guys like Tierney, Brown, and Murray to new deals, and then focus on a proactive extension for Tkachuk, that would go a long way to putting the team on the right track for the coming season. Let kids like Chabot, Tkachuk, and Stutzle be the face of the franchise, and start developing the new team identity. |

LOL WHAT!?
JUST STOP IT LOL
Seriously,
I don’t care that the Sens didn’t stick to what most mocks were saying. I was referring to Spatso using Cosentino’s mock as the ONLY evidence to justify their selection (specifically Sanderson).
Like, do I have to dumb down all my comments for you?
I mean at some point, you can’t keep beating a dead horse.
Let’s move on.

Priority.
I wonder if Brady takes a bridge like his brother..maybe waits until things gets back to normal and then cashes in.
I’m sure the Sens will probably use this flat cap to their advantage. |

if you have time to meticulously research NHL prospects and watch videos on them, to the point where you know more than the scouts......I either assume it's a scouting business, it's not a very successful business, or you're actually full of poop.........i'll go with the latter. |

i'm not sure what's confusing you about what I said? maybe I should dumb MY posts down for YOU.
The finnish kid they took at 33 has a ton of skill and offensive potential, but isn't the safest pick....and Sokolov led the Q in goal scoring with an absolutely lethal shot, is the prototypical power forward (very lucic-esque in his prime) but isn't a great skater....hence, not the safest pick. they took chances, high risk/high reward picks.
i'm just sick of fans who complain no matter what the team does. had they made the safe pick, people would have criticized them for being too safe, they made the riskier picks, people are whining that they didn't take the consensus pick.
As a fan base in general, people here do almost nothing but complain about every move this team makes, good or bad. I understand that we're all a little jaded after the last few years, but the truth is that NONE OF US know what any of these players are going to be (I don't give a poop how much you claim you researched them). just STOP (frank)ING COMPLAINING all the time......it's (frank)ing nauseating as a fellow fan to come into these boards, and every day it's just the same (frank)ing poop, crying and whining about this move or that move............you want to talk about beating a dead horse, there it is man, that (frank)er is dead and rotted.
this team has arguably the best prospect pool and collection of young talent in the entire league (guaranteed top 3), they have great new uniforms that everyone has been asking for, they acquired a #1 goalie for pretty much nothing........yes, ownership is garbage, but overall the future is bright for this team.........and all you guys want to do is female dog about 2nd and 3rd rd picks, because they didn't take the guy that you like.
