I am pretty sure that just yesterday I posted that they are not contenders but OK… - j.boyd919
Then that's even worse. If you know for a fact this team is not a contender then it makes even less sense to trade your future, correct?! |

Quotables
“Blomqvist has also been Finland’s undisputed number one goalie in his age group in international events for two years now, including at the U17 World Hockey Challenge last season and at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup to start this season. He was also Finland’s number three goalie at the U18 Worlds last season as an underager. Blomqvist has the size, technical skills and hockey sense to become a starting goalie at the NHL level. But like most young goalies, he will need lots of time and development before he gets there.” – Jokke Nevalainen/DobberProspects
Strengths:
Great technique
Quick glove
Mental game
Under Construction – Improvements to Make:
Confidence while playing the puck

I really think this pick was to prepare for a Penguins team without Sid and Geno. |

Nope. It makes perfect sense. I’d rather show Sid and Geno the honor of trying to keep the team competitive while they’re still around and focus on the the future after our sure bet HOFers retire. |

Honestly, when I think about this pick and think it may be a botched use of an asset that was hard to obtain, I just remember that Jack Johnson doesn't play for the Pens anymore and I couldn't give two poops who they selected in the second round. |

hahaha fair enough.
Was there anyone left not drafted yet that could shock the world and maybe play in NHL this coming season?

I honestly did no research on this year's draft, but it just sounded like better players were available at positions that could help the Pens sooner than a goalie, but again, I don't even care who they draft in the third round because hey, Jack Johnson doesn't play here anymore.

OK, if that's what you believe. Makes no sense to me but to each his own.
Another Goalie? Has JR lost his (frank)ing mind?

I mean, we can't argue that what he'll likely write isn't warranted.

Canucks wanted him and were even considering trading up to draft him. They have a pretty decent track record scouting goalies. |

Just because they aren't perennial contenders doesn't mean they can't win. Sure our odds may be lower but doesn't mean we can't. The NHL isn't the NBA in which if you have all the star power you win. I'm not expecting them to win another but if they do that's great. I'm just gonna enjoy watching them till Sid and Geno are gone.
Edit: And the next generational talent will come in what? The next 5-7 years, sounds right on track for us lol |

True, definitely a head scratcher, but it’ll still be entertaining to read nonetheless. |

The likelihood JR will select a left-handed defenseman at 108. |

Hahaha Jesus
We are trying to emulate the Jarry-Murray tandem. It worked out just fine. But we all wanted an offensive D-man or a forward. F off Ruth. |

Goalies drafted by Vancouver in the last 10 years:
Arturs Silovs
Matthew Thiessen
Michael Diepietro
Brett McKenzie
Thatcher Demko
David Honzik
Jonathan Iilahti
Which ones qualify as defining Van as having that track record of decent scouting? |

I agree 100% with you but just go with what the team is now and see what happens. You're right, they may get really hot at the end of the year and into the playoffs and with two future Hall of Famers you never know what might happen.
But this idea of trading 1st round picks year after year and even worse trading a 3rd round pick for a washed up Patrick Marleua has to stop! |
