Man did Vegas (frank) themselves. They jumped the gun with the Lehner contract. |

They're 2.8 Million over cap and they still need 3 players on the roster
Even if they dumped Fleury @ 50% they still couldn't do it. They'd need 1 backup goalie, 3 skaters and they'd have 700k to do it

I wonder what Wennberg will ask. Hopefully Ruth gives him a call. |

I expected them to be much more active in shedding some money today. I guess the house always wins?

Where can we petition for a new pens blogger? Surely their must be someone that can actually provide actual relevant and new content rather than just recite the same drivel every other day. I really hope RW isn't paid for this. If he is, Ek is being ripped off since RW basically just copies and pastes the same anti JJ and JR crap every blog. And I don't necessarily disagree with his opinions about said people, but really, he needs to explore other subjects.
I'm pretty sure RW has spent at least a year of his job just writing the same blog about JJ. |

I bet negative Nancy would quit and we would get someone else if just 15 or so of us would directly message him and say we want someone else and to just stop writing. Not sure if 15 people would but I’d 100% be open to trying |

If they buyout Fleury that's $4.4M cap savings right there. Sounds like Stastny and his $6.5M might be on the move, too. They'll figure something out like all teams always do. I feel hopeful that JR is not interested in Fleury. |

All of this hand-wringing about lack of FAs - we should have known there would have been a lot of QOs not given (and buyouts, with more on the way). Now who is JR targeting? Because you just know he is obsessing over someone right now. |

Part of me wants him but part of me wonders what he really brings. Is he better than Blueger? I'm not totally opposed to him but id take Turris over him for sure and possibly even Koivu.
Of the other out there, Id really like Duclair but I think he will get a better contract than the Pens can offer. AA would also be cool but if he is signing a prove it, I dont know if the Pens would get his choice. He has no shot at top 6 minutes here. |

Probably Fleury with half retained for a 1st next year which would then screw us. |

I actually think this would be very smart. Fleury can still play and we are going into a condensed season without a goalie who has ever handled a full time starting role.
Not to mention I feel like Vegas could totally STB this year and miss the playoffs, meaning that could be a really good pick. I dont mean to be an ass but they have bet all of their chips on a recovering alcoholic with mental health issues $25M to live full time in Vegas... what could go wrong...? |

So they would retain half and send us a 1st? Highly unlikely.
A buyout would be $2.5M, $3M, $2M, $2M
What you are saying is $3.5M, $3.5M plus a first.
Pretty sure they would just take option #1, especially if they can use the extra $1M this year to compete. I'm just not buying this Fleury with half retained plus a 1st (or more) talk. Lots more buyouts coming today. |

Not really. Two years ago he was .913 season and .909 playoffs. Last year he was .905 season and .910 playoffs. He's about to turn 36. No thanks. Also, I'm a huge Fleury fan. |
