The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a 7-year deal with forward Josh Anderson. (AAV $5.5M).

More details to come.
---------------------------------------------------------------
There was a comment last week about Sutter being extended without ever playing a game.

Anderson is the third player traded in two weeks that was extended without ever playing a game for his new team

- VANTEL

That was part of the deal.

No clue how credible this Chris Faber guy is, but he says the deal is close to being done. Says:

- Canucks won't budge on Pod/Hog/Demko inclusion so they're asking for multiple draft picks instead(im guessing 2021 1st most likely plus another pick)
- Apparently only one cap dump in the deal and OJ/Lind type of prospect
- Virtanen likely in the deal too.

Still scratching my head why management is pushing this deal so much.
- Eldebrink

I understand having interest, but I feel like they should stay firm on their offer and not try to meet Arizona in the middle by adding extra picks to make up for including one of Lind or OJ over Hog/Pod/Demko.

OEL comes with a poop load of risk with that term, who knows how he'll age. As of now, yeah he's a damn good dman, but that contract could become the new Eriksson in 4-5 years.

We'll see what happens, too soon to jump to conclusions until something is announced.

I'm not a big fan of it either, but it could've been worse. Best hope is that there's some sort of a compliance buyout in the future lol.

Really curious about Vegas and Columbus, both teams seem really desperate to shed cap, they must be eying a big fish.

Jones, Petro and Werenski

People are speculating Hall, but with the way CBJ is dumping dmen I have to a assume it's Petro or Krug.

I'm going to guess Krug stays in Boston and Hall lands in Colorado. But yeah interesting to see what CBJ does. Guessing AP more diserable destination would be Vegas but they need to address a scoring forward imo.

Gross. Would rather JB do nothing this year than make a bad trade for a good player.

It would be interesting to see if the Canucks could get OEL and Dvorak from Arizona, if they're insisting.

LE, Gaudette, JV/OJ, B- prospect, and a 1st for OEL and Dvorak

Nice to see no one is freaking out over possibly losing Markstrom. Personally I would rather see him walk than overpay. If he tests the market we will see someone do it.

Same.

As long as Demko, Hog, Pod are not included i'm happy.
I'd imagine OJ would be included tho, no?

You knew someone was going to help out Vegas and take one of those expensive contracts off their hands, but I was kinda hoping no one would and they'd be forced to add picks or pay a premium.

You'd have to think either OJ or Rathbone is included. I mean, if not, they could trade them to another team, or play them on their opposite side... but having Hughes, OEL, Edler, Rathbone, OJ all on the left side means something has to give.

There's no benefit to signing Markstrom

He's not going to take a deal and know there's a chance he gets shipped off to Seattle next year, and signing with any kind of expansion protection says goodbye to Demko before you really know what you have

Canucks should try to extort a 1st out of Vegas for [email protected] Million for 2 years to play behind Demko

Use the 1st to draft a player or to ship out bad money

I wonder who the team value more - OJ or Bone.

OJ is obviously the higher pick, has had more investment and i'd say better chance of success at the NHL level.

Bone was a University kid that could have chosen to go elsewhere, but showed good faith in the team that drafted him. If you flip him months later does that potentially damage the teams capacity to sign kids in similar situations in the future?

Well.
Just to be devil's advocate here.

You could sign Markstrom to 5.5 x 5.
Have a good goalie locked up and bring along MDP.
Flip Demko for a 1st when the free agency frenzy dies down or when injuries occur throughout the year.

Not sure if MDP has shown he could be a starter tho?

I don't think shipping off Rathbone would be a big black eye – however if you packaged him to Boston that could come out as a win. He'd be closer to his family and brother, and I'm sure he'd appreciate that. I mean, in a package deal for Carlo...

I think OJ has the better floor, Rathbone the more explosive offensive upside

fair point.
very raw still.
If you signed Markstrom for 5 years, I think that would give you time to find another G tho.

Yeah, I mean i don't want to come off as someone worried about individual 'feelings' ( don't get me wrong here), but i would have some concerns about the reputation of the organisation as a whole.

I'd think OJ would be the more likely prospect moved is what i'm saying.

There is a benefit depending on the cost.

Demko will be excellent as a starter but I have no interest in fluery even at half the cost.

Once a few key free agents sign we will see the market cost. It could be that Tanev, Toffoli and Markstrom could stay at a decent value. Now is not the time to overpay. This team is still a competitive team without those 3.

If I were to guess the most likely to return would be Tanev.
