Well.
Just to be devil's advocate here.
You could sign Markstrom to 5.5 x 5.
Have a good goalie locked up and bring along MDP.
Flip Demko for a 1st when the free agency frenzy dies down or when injuries occur throughout the year. - dbot
I think Demko is the guy with a higher ceiling, is younger, and you'll likely be able to get him on an extension in the 3.5 x 3 (Similar to Jarry) range. Hate to give that up

“Move along now, nothing to see here....”
Doubt anything happens on this in the next 100 minutes remaining in Ep/OEL’s deadline for a trade or stay decision. |

i cant remember which guy in teh twitterverse brought it up but noted vancovuer has had the luxury of getting crazy value out of marky/demko contracts (sub $5m total) and was wondering how much will be allocated to the position going forward |

I kinda hate the concept of tying up a bunch of $ in goaltending (Luongo, Price, Bobrovksy, etc).
I'd be happy for them to go with Demko and Greiss/Holtby, whomever is cheaper. |

Markstrom being back in Van is definitely contingent on whether an OEL move to Van being possible. While having both is great, long term it will handcuff the future sightings.
At this point I don’t see either in Vancouver. |

Only reason I suggest [email protected], is that if you can get Vegas to throw in a 1st, then use that 1st to dump LE/Sutter (6 Million, 4.6 Million), etc, it's like you'd have Fleury for (negative $$)

I think they just need to sign a backup goaltender and move along into next season. |

Somewhat – but if they want AP, they need to clear out more money. Plus, this strange goalie controversy that they've brought on themselves needs to be sorted. |

.@irfgaffar on Markstrom: At some point something has to give. I'm of the belief that as soon as 9:01am comes tomorrow - Calgary will call Jacob Markstrom. They could go 6 years and $6 million a year. |

So hear me out. Assumption is a Stastny trade clears space for Vegas to pursue Pietrangelo.
But defense is not Vegas' area of need. It needs a No. 1 center.
What if Vegas were to pursue…Mr. Steven Stamkos?

Ya, Things aren't as dire in Vegas anymore. I still don't think they want 12 Million in goaltending, or the distraction (not from Fleury per say, but the drama involved in the position now)
The Jets did a terrible job not getting anything from Vegas in exchange for taking on all 6.5 Million. Rookie move by Chevy there. Stastny isn't anything special

I agree.
Demko needs to be a number one. Markstrom long term means means he is out at some point. I would also bet if he did sign for long term it would be contingent on him being locked up to avoid being picked up by Seattle. Which would f@&k us big time. |

Problem is now they are 3 Million UNDER cap but they still need to have 3 roster players signed to fill the lineup. They still don't have any real space |
