wow.
Bit higher AAV than I anticipated.
Going to have to think on that one.

SC champ.
Short term.
hopefully he's a good teammate.

He's getting exposed next year regardless.

Did he get a NMC?

No I don't believe so. Expansion draft bait.

the bidding war between EDM and CGY for Markstrom is supposedly nuts. 7 years for the 31 year old netmind. He is going to get overpaid. Good for him, but man i am glad we got holtby. Anything over 4 years for re-signing Markstrom would have been a bit sketchy IMO.

This Holtby signing was my ideal scenario. 2X4.3 is good value.
- NorthNuck

dont love the aav but if ian clarke can help stop holtbys decline it could end up working out. glad the term is short and opens the door for demko

Am I missing something? His SV PCT last year was below .900...why not get Fluery and a pick for less?

Canucks played it smart. No expansion draft protection. Short term and millions less than Marky is looking for.

Holtby has been really bad the past couple years but I'm glad they didn't cave to Markstrom.

Nighty you still think Vegas is going to have trouble moving salary?

That Turris deal is really good.

incredibly smart. I think we will see a ton of short (2 year) deals, and not a ton of protection given out (maybe exceptions for the Hall/Petro/Krug).

Holtby at 2 years is a really good move, and if Markstrom gets anything over 4 years with CGY/EDM, it will be a fantastic move by comparison IMO

Nothing triggers them more than a sensible signing with an eye on the future for your blue chip up and comers.
