No one knew that Demko would step up this year or that the Canucks would have this success. Without Demko stepping up, Canucks would of caved, if Nucks don't over achieve, Markstrom doesn't get the same value.

Honestly, the guy put himself in a position to cash in on two years of outstanding goaltending, I don’t blame him for taking the largest deal he could, money matters.

If Barrie and TT sign elsewhere, would be best for the team. I could potentially see Barrie sign a shorter deal but not TT. Wouldn’t lock either up for 5 year deals.

Will be interesting if guys might take shorter deals if ufa are hanging around for a bit. With covid uncertainty and the flat cap, might happen.

I have the #Canucks at $10.3 million in cap space with 18 bodies on the roster.

Bookmark $3M of that space for Virtanen, who has filed for arbitration, and the #Canucks have $7.3 million in cap space to sign 4 players, including a replacement top-4 D and top-6 forward.

We can only speculate, but I don’t think Jim with take that risk.

JB called Demko the goalie of the future after the playoffs. That pretty much sealed it for Marky. He either take shorter term and no protection to go for it or walk for $$$ and we sign someone for a tandem situation. It played out as it should and Canucks are better now and down the road for it.
