Times were a little different then, we were a dumpster fire of a team. We had to do that to get anyone to sign, probably a little easier in today’s world.

Nah, I guarantee they could of found 4C for less than 4x3 and a NTC.

I see how his dominoes have stayed true in this whole process. Goalie first then D and forwards, which they have an abundance of options, for last concern. It doesn't mean that TT is not signed as he tests market. So if no one throws big $$ and term then TT should pick Canucks as good bet to win.
- NuckUp

Career average 45-50pt player with a good opportunity in Van signs what JB should offer. 4/4.75m but I prefer 3yrs while TT probably wants 5yrs.

I’d guess he’s not getting 5 years anywhere. He’ll get 3 or 4 I think.

Just saying lol, you guys get too riled up by “the other side” as if it has any influence.

I used to get caught up in it myself so I’m not innocent either

- Nucker101

I don't think we take it too seriously. The personal stuff gets out of hand but 98% of it is jokes.

When "we" make fun of the "other side," it's an elbow to the ribs with a mischievous/malicious wink.

Most of the time, it's trying to get the other guy to explode. I find it hilarious.

At the end of the day, this is hockey. Seriously, who gives a sh!t and moreso who gives a sh!t on something that you can't control and doesn't affect you personally.

To summarize, keep your weak a$$, middle of the road opinions to yourself, you feckless little fcuk.

I don’t know man, I wasn’t hear during the covid break, but since the playoffs have ended, I’ve already seen some pretty personal attacks.

Pagnotta - Holtby I believe received a better offer from Edmonton, and opted to take less to play in Vancouver. He is pretty excited to play for the Canucks.

- Nucker101

The TSN panel on talking about Holtby all said Canucks closest team to winning the Cup for Canada. As much as there is downplay and stupid sarcasm about Canucks being worse off and in cap hell the core pieces are there and getting better.

Yes D is a concern but OJ and Rathbone can be upgrades. Its not what you have done but what you can do more of going forward. Tryamkin could also fill in the size need at the very least. This is if JB doesn't sign or trade for anyone so I am good either way.

I assume he’s talking about Tanev and his RFA’s

Capfriendly has the Canucks at $7.95M of cap space, after the signings so far today. Add another $1M for LE pushed to the AHL, and another $1M for Sven...call it $10M. AS I read it, that doesn’t include JV ($2.5-$3.5M) or Gaudette ($1M?), but it does include Ferland at $3.5M (possibly LTIR, but not until the start of the season). Unsure if it includes the bonuses, but assuming it does, they have still less than $6.5M for any other signings.

RHD is a much bigger hole than RW. I just don’t see how they have the cap to sign TT without making another move to dump salary, which will cost them picks or prospects.

Yeah. There's been a lot of the personal stuff. I can only speak for myself but I could never take stuff seriously from most of the people here (especially since it's all anonymous.)

Sure, it's childish and over the top so you're right:

LTIR for Ferland can be off season.

The big question is, even if Ferland says he is good to go, can the team LTIR him during offseason due to missed games and what happened in PO's with him? You'd gotta think they can force the issue for cap and activate him later in the season.

But he's already said he is going to try to come back so until something changes the nucks will have to assume that money is on the books.

Perhaps

He & his agent are saying he is “fit and ready to play”.

There is no LTIR unless he is examined & determined to be not fit to play...that isn’t going to happen in the off season unless both the team & he want it to.

JB finally commented on TT when asked again. Said as a general statement " we are not closing any doors on free agents and trades".

Benning on SN650 on Toffoli - I am not closing any doors on anybody. If I can free up some money I am going to talk to him. I know we have work to do. I have work to do.

Its why I've said MTA LE but now that there is NHL/AHL next season uncertainty the timing could be too late to pull off.

I don't think he can be on LTIR in the off season but the team can be 10% over. They'll have to squeeze him onto the roster before putting him on LTIR before the season starts.
It shouldn't be hard since they should have some waiver exempt youngsters they can send down to maneuver the cap during/after training camp.

not saying there is no chance but its a little tiresome reading that the next prospects are coming in as upgrades (as if they are hughes/petey). development isnt linear and they can very quickly become huttons and corrados

Just read Drance on the Athletic saying that they've heard that Canucks are also operating with a cash crunch and that was a significant reason for the structure of Holtby deal. 2.9 in yr 1 and 5m7 in yr 2.

Sounds like Benning is trying to save cash this year which might be part of why he is looking to resign "their own guys".
