You talk about Miller how TB didn't pump his value. Well they played him on the 3rd line and he was deemed expendable. Van plays him with better players and magic happens.
JV during the regular season when he got top 6 ice time points per 60 went way up.
So what do they do in the playoffs give him less time with lesser players and you expect him to do better?
Better give that time to Sutter because he's an offensive dinamo. - manvanfan

Sutter is the only real candidate if there was one, he only has one year left so it would’ve saved them a few million dollars for next seasons cap. But as I said, I don’t think Aquilini wants to pay players to go play for someone else. - Pacificgem
Made no sense in the fact that it would help a bit this year only to add restraint to next season. Much rather have his entire cap gone after this season then a bit this year and a bit next year when Petey and Hughes need new contracts. |

Yeah I agree, just eat your contracts and circle back when they’re gone. Pettersson is 21, Hughes is 20, Boeser is 23, Horvat is 25, they have time.
Although Jim Benning will probably (frank) it all up trying to win immediately. |

My understanding is AZ wants no part of taking bad dollars back, that’s why they’re making the move in the first place. To save money. - Pacificgem
LE isn’t really bad dollars but his cap hit is a challenge when you look at the Yotes problems. |

No buyouts so how will he do as you say?
You pitch you catch or continue to avoid pointed questions. It’s up to you. |

Any player who plays top 6 minutes with Petey or Bo will have their points go up. It's the Janik Hansen effect.
Who did you want him to supplant in the playoffs? The top 6 was set before TT got injured. Had Jake come into camp in shape, ready to go, building off his season, then I'm positive TG would have played him more. But it's no one's fault but JV's that his lazy work ethic cost him those opportunities. There's no one to blame for his short comings other than himself.
And if JV was such a dynamo, it wouldn't matter who he played with. He'd put up points. He'd cause havoc. He's make teams alter their game plans. He'd be like Tuch was against us. But he's not – that's not who he is. |

Yeah, well that aint going to happen, my freezer packed it in. I'll be hauling $600 of rotted beef, lamb, pork, elk, moose, chicken, seafood, cheese, raspberries and blueberries to the dump not to mention pounds and pounds of salmon, smoked salmon, and 40 lbs of halibut - A_SteamingLombardi
Aw that’s lousy, with all that product gone you must have meant a $6000. value. |

Nothing wrong with letting them expire. More cap space in the future instead of today is fine by me.
That being said, this is all moot if JB overpays Barrie or gives up too much for OEL |

So we should waste 3-4 years sucking to build more young depth that may or may not helps us compete(Like the Oilers and Sabres did)?Bos is 25 so we have 5-7 years of him playing at a high level for competing. EP and Hughes will still be young when Bo declines. Now is the time to improve the team to compete as we have U20 players that will come in and improve our team/depth over the next couple years now, and we still have time during EP/QH window to instert more youth down the road. Our young core puts us in win now mode for the next 10 years at least. |

So according the EK, the Flames are already talking to Marky's agent a day early? |

Jim Benning was sold as a drafting guru. Then he trades his picks away forcing the team to invest in UFA"s. And we all know how that has gone. If Canuck fans are satisfied with the draft I have to ask why. - Hardbalz
1st turned into JT Miller thats a win
Elias win
Brock win
Hughes win
Madden win
Gaudette id say probable win
rafferty looks like hes gonna be good
rathbone similar
juolevi may indeed be fine
hoglander looks good
podkolzin well see
kole lind well see
overall hes done well man does he trade too many picks yup does he sign rediculous contracts yup but I think hes beyond that now and expect after sutts and loui are done he wont make those mistakes again. |

i wouldn't doubt it. the only real way to catch tampering is if one side admits it or does it publicly. so basically, if you have an iq above that of a turnip, you'll get away with it. put another way, only an idiot of a gm would get caught tampering. |

I’d avoid both if long term. If I had to pick one, it’s whoever will accept the shorter contract. |
