Article about draft round in relation to NHL career.
My percentages were off. I am sorry, my mistake, wanted to correct it - Ross77
Small brain: 1st overall pick. Get one NHL player.
Big brain: get 30 7th round picks. 3 NHL players. |

If drafting isn’t voodo and it’s an easy Formula then explain why less than 15% after round 2 have significant careers?
Logan Stanly is low hanging fruit. I haven’t seen luke Green lighting it up yet. But I’m sure you’ll have some excuses for him.
Do you know how many D drafted after Logan Stanly I the ENTIRE draft that year have played more than 70 games thus far in the NHL? 6. In a 7 round draft 5 years ago, 6 D drafted after Stanly have played over 70 NHL games.
And 5th and round 6th round picks have the same odds of making it, next to none. - Ross77
A: Luke Green has looked great for the Moose when healthy. He’s also never healthy. He was a steal at the draft, looked god tier in his last playoff run in junior, then promptly died to death in the AHL.
B: Stanley is a low hanging fruit. But we’ve been seeing this behaviour out of the Jets often enough I don’t even need to cherry pick. Lukas Sutter, anyone?
C: that draft was weird for defencemen, but Stanley pales in comparison to all of his non-full tinder peers. Bean, Cholowski, Joulevi, Johansen, Peeke, Hajek, Lindgren, and even Mahura are all players either about to make the jump, have already been in use, or have dominated the A. Some of them are all 3.
Stanley is not. |

Honestly, having read up on what Stastny might still bring to the table (and the bounce back potential), I literally couldn’t have asked for a better week as a Jets fan.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings |

Luke Green has been injured a lot, pretty sure he missed the majority of his last year of junior due to injuries and his bad injury luck has followed him to the AHL as well, too bad, he has looked good in any Moose games I've watched.
I refuse to call guys busts who's careers have been derailed by injuries, not saying Green would of made it if not for the injuries but it's just not a fair judgement imo.
Idk how anyone could've saw anything in Stanley that would of made them want to use a 1st round pick on him nevermind trade up to select him, after watching him for one shift I could of told you his skating just isn't good enough for the NHL, maybe as a project you grab him in round 3 at the earliest and see if you can get his skating worked on and turn him into something in time but using a 1st on him was crazy, what a blown pick, there's two top 4 dman taken in the 2nd round of that draft, it doesn't take any kind of stats, analytics or detailed scouting report for someone to see that Stanley's skating was a serious issue.
Niku was a 7th round pick and he's already played more NHL games then the zero Stanley has, I get it can be a real guessing game when selecting a bunch of kids at the draft but I can easily see why they took a chance on Niku in round 7, really he could of been selected in round 2 or 3 and it would of been understandable but I can't for the life of me understand how anyone could of thought using an 18th overall pick on Logan Stanley was a risk worth taking. |

For what’s it worth I was hoping The jets would trade down in the 2nd to acquire a couple more picks, then the Leafs did, and took both Fins I liked. it pissed me off lol. |

What are the picks?
Unbe(frank)inglievable the amount of draft picks the Jets have wasted on Paul Stastny, they've pretty much used an entire round of draft picks on this guy. |

We would be doing Vegas a favor in helping them unload Statsny's salary. Either Vegas eats some salary or we get something more.,,,,maybe a pick. Much like when we traded Mason. |

Seriously this is done?
Any rumours of complete deal?
Good move for Jets, one and done, or extension next year, depending on Perfetti? I would think we would get a decent player/pick thrown in. Or perhaps I should say "hope"

That's what it should be, would be great if they could squeeze Whitecloud or Hague out of Vegas instead of picks. |

I assume Fleury will be dealt as well. If both Statsny and Fleury are gone it will free up lots of cap for Vegas, retaining some salary makes the most sense for them for both players. If players were to be dealt it could be anyone on the roster not named Krebs or Dugan. Pick also possible. Could be some combination of the above or even a bigger deal with one of the Jets unneeded prospects. |

Ek is saying Stastny deal done. Radio station 1290 says that they're hearing only one pick involved.
Any guess as to what this pick might be? |

I'd bet 3rd round but it depends on the amount of retained salary
