and we even found a taker for Dahlstrom ! |

I'd bet 3rd round but it depends on the amount of retained salary - jetsnation
2022 4th plus Carl Dahlstrom |

2022 4th plus Carl Dahlstrom - grahamzky
$850,000 off the books for who was likely our 9th or 10th defenceman

After bringing back Stastny. Chevy's next big move is going to be to bring back Andrew Ladd!
Furthermore Stastny is now on his 5th team. Something much be wrong with this guy! - TheUltimateJet
So, Stastny. Colorado, St. L., Vegas and Jets? Who we missing? It says something for a player's character/ability when a team makes a move for a player they've had before. Need and salary cap!
It's a little different when a player is on his fourth NHL team when he's soon-to-be 35 and has played in the years for 14 years. Lots of good players bounce around at that age.
It's when a player is, oh say, 23-27 and has played with multi teams that a red flag goes up. |

As long as he still gas left in the tank, he is a SMART player, good on faceoffs, defensively responsible, and maybe a "Laine Whisperer".

At this point is his career, Stastny should be a third line Center that can play a top two role in the case someone is injured or on a cold streak.
The NHL is a young mans game where speed is more important than ever. Wheeler is a prime example of that. Especially considering that he has difficulty beating defensemen to the outside now.
One thing about Chevy is that he sure has a difficult time letting go of players that played for him. I am interested to see if they sign any free agents. |

I think NHL GM's have a code, if a player gets a bad rap somewhere they are essentially done in the NHL, unless they have unvbeleivable talent. This idea of a player playing for multiple teams makes him bad, while we have Adam Lowry is funny. |

I was hoping that Vegas would have at least added a pick and/or a prospect for the Jets taking Stastny. Rather we as a "draft & develop" team have traded away another draft pick. |

If speed is as important as you suggest, then we might as well trade Laine now. |

Totally agree. One year of Statsny on the second line until Perfetti is more ready. It also a great indication that any Laine trade is now off. Smart deal by Chevy although I'm a little surprised Vegas didn't retain about $1 MM of his salary in addition to them taking Dahlstrom off our hands.

Yea great deal for both teams, the Knights shed salary, the Jets get a 2nd line C - like cheap. And signed for only one year, which is also good. And they say, although, unlikely, that Perfetti might stick this year. If not, next year. Stastny would make a good mentor.
However, that said, the Jets still need that dominant d-man. Not sure how far they will go with a Morrissey-DeMelo/Pionk first pairing. Probably not that far. Easy to say we need a top pairing d-man - not easy to acquire.
Krug, Werenski, Sergachev! Oh why even dream of that? |

This is true. Jets haven't drafted any significant forwards or defensemen outside of the first round. |

Not true - skill can be increased through hard work, quality practice, good coaching. Size is a non-teachable attribute.

Skill is highly teachable. The 10,000-hour rule is also very real. |

The Jets have had a core of five players on the team for the last 2-3 years who were all drafted outside the first round. Copp, Appleton, Helle, Lowry, Poolman , and now Harkins. It's significant enough when its 1/4 of the roster.

I hope I am wrong but have low expectations for Stasny round 2 and am thinking of all those who think Little is overpaid - at least it is only one year. He had one outstanding week with Laine/Ehlers, then a month of results similar to, maybe worse than what they produced compared to having Little as pivot and now he is 35yo.
The PP will benefit, Connor likely bumped to 2nd unit. |

That's not the core of the team. Hellebyuck is a goalie by the way, so clearly you do not read my post.
Poolman is terrible as is Lowry. Harkins and Appleton have still to play a full season in the NHL. Copp is good but I would not make him a central core piece. |

I believe both teams were top ten but look at the guys both brought in, Perry, Pavelski, Schenn, Bogo, Maroon, Shatenkirk…... |

easy on Poolman!!! he was arguably our best D against Calgary in the play in round!! is he a top 4 guy, no, but at 775k he is a fantastic 3rd pair D, why would you pay more money to someone equal or worse to play third pair? |
|
|

Great deal by the Wings. 1million for Bobby Ryan? Holy smokes. Probably could get Turris for a million as well. |

Sticking with tradition, Jets fans always blame the 5 d for all the problems. I thought I would start that train. |

So I guess we should go out and sign more older players. |
