Turris for 1.65, so both he and Bobby Ryan both signed for a combined 2.65?

Both could have been on the Jets third line. And both would have cost us nothing! I actually had both coming in at 3 million.

Great deals for both Detroit and Edmonton!

Sticking with tradition, Jets fans always blame the 5 d for all the problems. I thought I would start that train.
- TheUltimateJet

Actual Jets "fans" don't "always" lay blame. Maybe that is just your schtick.

Also agree with Ross. Poolman was excellent against Calgary. He will be most definitely on the roster this year.

Poolman is a bit of wild card in my books. Kind of a late starter, late bloomer, perhaps because of injuries. One player who could step up to next level.

See N. Beaulieu signed for two more years at $1.25. Gives us some experience and toughness. Keep opposing forwards heads up. Decent 5th-6th depth d-man. Happy with this signing!

Detroit is in full rebuild. Good job of signing veteran players - who they can deal at the dead-lline for draft picks, if those players perform.

That's how you rebuild!

I forgot everything is always great in your world. Your belief is Chevy is like my believe in the tooth fairy.

do you know how old Tampa and Dallas were? the two teams who just played in the cup final. old.
- Ross77

LOL The "oldest" forward TB had was 32 year old Maroon, and he was a 4th line player.

Dallas had Pavelski and Radulov along with a couple of depth players (Comeau Cogliano) approaching their mid 30's. The rest of their team was under 30 (aside from benn who was 31)

The oldest team was Washington avg age 29.22. So I guess if you count being 29 as old then I guess you are correct.

As Button said sometimes coaching and players don't mesh. I see Turris scoring just as much as Stastny this year and at a fraction of the price.

So you don’t think the “older” players brought in by these teams helped them? Weird take.

With the signing of Stastny that makes Roslovic a 4th line player. Any of his fans on this site want to make new predictions on his point totals?

Why do you assume they were calling Chevy asking to come here? It takes both sides to want to deal.

Mike Johnson on TSN just made a great point about Maurice needing to fix his systems! Could not have said it better myself.

Knowing Chevy, he does not really use his phone that often.

I am surprised he pulled of a trade. I bet the Vegas GM was just as surprised to hear from him as I am.

Yes Ross 6 point Maroon, helped has much as 34 point 27 year Kucherov win the stanley cup.

Why don't you read the whole post where it points out that 90% of both rosters are 30 and under, and come up with a better argument then hey teams had a couple of players over that age so they got to the finals.

Chevy is easily a top-five GM in the NHL. If his contract was not renewed there would be a very very long lineup of Owners seeking his services. Winnipeg is lucky to have him.

Fully agree. He, being small marker, has one of the toughest GM jobs in the NHL. And he does it well, built the team into a competitive team. And enjoyable to watch!

No, we haven't won the big prize, but a lot of teams like that. He wouldn't be out of work long should he be canned.

Everyone but Jetsnation. In his world Maurice is THE BEST coach in the NHL.

A trolling statement for sure but I will respond because you are inferring that I said what you are implying. He's a good coach, experienced and well-liked by the players. That being said he is by no means the best. I can name at least 6-8 who I regard higher, led by Trotz.

On another note: even though I think he's overpayed at this point in his career, I am genuinely excited for Stastny to be back in Winnipeg. I have been a fan of his ever since he was in Colorado.

I am hoping that he can convince one of his two former Blues team mates in Shattenkirk or Pieterangelo to sign here.

This I agree on. I thought that the Jets should have fired Maurice immediately once Trotz became a free agent. Now that would have been a BOLD move.

I have taken notice of this change.

I really do like the new Ross77 better. I think the kinder gentler you is a refreshing change.
