Sbiza???? Seriously??? Common man!!
- Ross77

Just extra depth on the cheap. He will likely play for the Moose 80% of the seaon.

As Jets stand now....

Connor - Scheif - Wheeler
Ehlers - Statsny - Laine
Copp- Lowry- Roslovic
Perreault/Vesalainen - Harkins/Gustafsson - Appleton

Morrisey - DeMelo
Beaulieu - Pionk
Heinola/Sanberg - Poolman /Niku

Looking at this lineup. The only real hole I see here is that 2nd line LHD that can quarterback the PP. Historically the Jets quarterback it from the RHD but the hole here is obviously LDH. This is why I'm so high on getting Krug. He fills that spot perfectly and also adds a lot of muscle. I'n not sure if we have enough cap remaining but if so he is the guy we want. Beyond that, we need to be able to give ice time to those young guys listed on the fourth line so I don't see any further additions to the forwards. Its Krug ( or Petriangelo ) or nothing for me.

Travis Hamonic looks like he's close to signing with the Jets. We are definitely getting older today.

You think he takes Perreault's spot?

Ross and I agree on dumping Perreault's contract, but the Jets will never do that. So it's 6 minutes a game for Roslovic until an injury happens.

Oh yeah I forgot about Perreault, he seems like a 4th line player now even in Maurice's eyes.
Here's a wild prediction, Maurice hates Roslovic and seems to like Harkins so I can see Harkins going on the wing with the two stonehands eventually (Copp/Lowry) and a 4th line of Perreault-Roslovic-Appleton will be created which could be a decent line actually but won't get much ice time, the 3rd line will continue to be an offensive black hole but Harkins will pot a few occassionally and many in the fanbase will like Harkins on this line and be reminded of the useless Copp-Lowry-Tanev line which will make them happy, Roslovic will be unhappy with his usage and will request a trade.
With the trade of Roslovic the new 4C will be Gustafsson who will center Perreault and Appleton for 6-7 minutes a game.

Torey Krug adds a lot of muscle?
He's 5'9" 185 lbs

Toronto got the guy the Jets needed,
Brodie for $5M×4 years

At least he's a quality human, think they need another veteran anyway.

I see that Brodie signed with Toronto, he would've been a great pickup for the Jets, solid LHD to pair with Pionk.

Who needs Brodie, when we got Beaulieu and Sbisa coming back? Top 5 GM at work!

I think you’d be happy with Hamonic, UJ. (On a decent contract)

Hey man. Hope all is well.

Enjoyed your Laine to everywhere but here series of trade proposals, just read them way too late to comment.

I’d trade you Nylander, but I need the rights to Hendricks and Dano as well.

Those guys were alright, I'm fine with them coming back, they made a good 3rd pair when they were together.

Do wonder if there will be another addition to the defense or if this is it and one or two of Samberg, Niku, Pionk will fill out the rest of the D core.

Thanks Mr. Ate Me!

Hendricks works on the Wild head office now. You will need a time machine for that guy.

Brodie is a 30 year old declining player. Right now, yes he is still a 3/4 guy and would be good in that role for two years, but the Leafs got him to play top pair, which he isn’t, they locked him for 4 years at 5mill per ( too much ) and gave him a NMC.

I don’t love all the moves we made today but so far we avoided one of those long term problems

I don't think Brodie will decline much, if anything I'd be worried about that Muzzin contract if I was a Leafs fan.

If there was ever a player you can not predict what he will do, it’s Brodie

I don't know what any of that is supposed to mean.

Brodie is a legitimate top 4 dman, I'd much rather have him then DeMelo.

Chevy is easily a top-five GM in the NHL. If his contract was not renewed there would be a very very long lineup of Owners seeking his services. Winnipeg is lucky to have him.

I agree Chevy has more than held his own to date. I'm not sure there are many better. Some would be just as good while others appear less so. No one on these sites knows the details behind any player transaction other than what is reported. Deciding moves or non-moves are good or bad are made without all the facts.

Reviewing the moves made over his tenure fails to convince me he is bad. Every GM has made their regrettable moves but when dealing with people there are many variables at play.

He gets criticized for not making many trades but we know few of the factors in any talks. I recall Phil Esposito managing the Rangers and making a trade roughly every two weeks. It was just too disruptive to the team and failed to produced desirable results.

The Jets seemed to have come out well on the unique Byfuglien situation and did alright with today's transaction of acquiring Statsny on a one year deal. Trading a 3rd round pick for Demelo who we know can play and will do so at a reasonable price for four years also seems to have been a good move.

Maurice is a matter of debate but he seems well respected and liked around the league. I do think he is a selling point that can attract players to the team. There will always be dissenters and I can be at times too. I would have taken Trotz when we had the chance but I believe the offer was made to Maurice prior to Trotz becoming available. You look bad if you give a deadline which the applicant meets and then try to void the offer. That would send a bad message league wide and have lasting repercussions. Maurice has done ok and even better given some rough situations he was dealt last season.

All good man. The window is 4 years.

If they don’t win, it won’t matter by the end of his contract.
