Never mind. Just saw that Guess to Florida for 3yrs 7.5 was done. That's a bummer. I think we need some muscle back there, no offense to Carrick. We knew Dillon was going to stay in Washington. Boro too the preds for 2yrs 4 mil. Both guys at the perfect term and price for us. We'll see what happens. Carrick is our tough guy and everyone else is passive and/or smaller.

Tanev and Hamonic are RHD still available. Though I suspect Van let Stetcher go to pay Tanev.

Jon Merrill to Detroit. A lot of ex-Devils moving today it seems.

Thoughts on signing kahun?
- dmarsden2988

Hard to gauge. Malkin/Crosby has made a lot of embarrassing wingers look good over the years and he didn't put up real numbers on that team. At 25 not sure how much more room for development he has but this is a team that lacks all sorts of complimentary scoring so 1-2 year deal on the cheap wouldn't look terrible.

Also, read today that Ottawa offered Duclair 4mil x 5years and apparently turned it down looking for 5x5. If that's true then I would stay away for sure. Way too much risk involved there.

Means Pietrangelo ain't going back. I know it's Ek, but there was a rumor earlier that the Devils were kicking tires with Vegas about Fleury. Would be an interesting cap dump and he is most certainly an upgrade as a backup even though expensive. Let's Vegas pursuit Pietrangelo as well since they also moved Statsny today too. I don't like Fleury but if we're getting something good out of eating the cap hit I could be onboard.

Blues are now over the cap and still need to sign RFA Dunn. Fitzy looking at all these teams going over the cap, i hope he's able to capitalize on it

must've been a money thing. Krug is a year younger than Pietrangelo, but is he their captain? If it's a matter of 1 year or 1 mil.. just give it to your captain. stupid on the surface, but i'm sure there's more going on. EK said Devils were involved with Krug. That would've been something.

I'd love to get Fleury. A great mentor for Blackwood and seems like a great guy in the room. Wonder if we'd actually get something for taking him. It's not like he's a bad goalie or anything. Oh he's 7mil for next season too. That's fine. We're good cap-wise for 21-22. And if he's decent enough we can trade him at the deadline as an option.

very curious what deals Blackwood and Bratt are going to get this year.

What screwed the Blues was that pointless Fault trade/re-sign. They could have just not had Faulk and had Pietrangelo instead. And also could have had Krug if they wanted to. That's the big problem. I think signing Krug now isn't bad because the money was never going to work out with Pietrangelo so they just took the 2nd best guy available that works without a big salary dump.

Fleury has had bad numbers recently but if Vegas is sending us a top prospect back with it then it's hard to say no, right?

You're forgetting Boqvist. I'm not sure Foote makes the jump this year, but Boqvist looked good. Rotate LWs +Gusev until we get a fit. I do think there's room to add a winger. Do they go for Nuge? Could be a nice linemate for Hughes. Granlund may come cheaper, but he didn't inspire me last season. It's the following season we get Holtz and almost definitely Foote. They'll instantly be in the mid-6, so it's something to keep in mind. Boqvist can play center, likely 4th line C, depending on what we do with Zajac after this season.

Boqvist-Hischier-Palmieri
Bratt-Hughes-Gusev
Kuok-Zacha-Merkley
Wood-Zajac-Anderson

Murray-Severson
Smith-Subban
Butcher-Carrick

Hamonic and Tanev are still out there. If we were trying for Krug, we have to go for Tanev. Guy was a rock for Vancouver.

So I think the 4 guys we may be looking at, that may be a fit- Nuge, Granlund, Tanev, Hamonic. Getting both a forward and a dman would really shore things up for us. This keeps Carrick as the #7, and we'll likely see him and another prospect with Murray being so injury prone.

On Fleury, supposedly teams were asking 1st and 2nd rounder with 33% retained. I have not looked but Devs could do 1st and 2nd (the Devs pick only) with no salary retained, and then they could offer sheet Serg on TB. Dreaming, just dreaming.

exactly. The day they signed him I questioned it. I wouldn't hesitate on Fleury, even with a B-level prospect. I think his experience is invaluable for Blackwood and the other young goalies that may engage with him. he was decent enough in the playoffs. I'll take that. I'm not expecting us to do anything this year anyway. Not that I think we shouldn't try to win or setup for failure, but I don't think Fleury is a black hole that would hurt us much. He's better than Schneider and Domingue, which isn't saying much. I think Blackwood should see 60 starts.

He is indeed a player, one of those guys that could be a good fit on any line, though he may not be the fastest, strongest, or have the best shot.

I'm expecting a 50-60pt season from Bratt this year. He just turned 22 in July, can be shifty and has a good shot. Consistency has been an issue, but I think it's also part of development. Bratt is a great fit on any of our lines. I'm thinking 25g isn't out of the question for him.

I am so torn on Bratt. I hope for the best, after all he was a sixth round pick. But I have nagging feelings he is at best a bottom six energize player. i hope I am wrong, my son keeps telling me I am.

Cory died so Corey could live! In all seriousness though its a great move, pretty nice upgrade. Gonna be two reliable goalies more than ever this upcoming season with the rumored condensed schedule

Signing makes a lot of sense. Not a ton of money spent and get a good goalie on a short contract. No risk and helps Blackwood bridge into everyday starter.

I'm guessing trades with Vegas just didn't make sense so it was better to pull the trigger here than wait and miss.

If you sign another injury-prone dman, you'll have one dman.
