But the Bills had to gameplan for two teams not knowing if they were cancelling TEN and playing KC or both. Not to mention TEN is rested and getting AJ Brown and Lewan back.

I really just don't know what Fla was thinking.. There board was: Take one of Smith, Marchessault, or Pysyk, so they decided to give both Smith and Marchessault. It made no sense then, and makes less sense today.

(Not that this is any better, or anything, but) Tallon wanted to protect Bjugstad and Petrovich Smith was great for FL in the playoffs vs Isles, and was given a $25 mil/5yr extension. The following year, Hubie and Bjugstad missed much of the season after preseason injuries, and Barkov missed time w/back issues. Smith struggled mightily in their absence. Gallant was fired , Smith continues to be snake bitten, seems mopey and gets publicly called out by new coach on a couple occasions. Smith looked like he was going to continue his pattern of up year followed by down year, and FL may have thought the extension was a mistake. Idk, there may have been reasons beyond the ice that influenced their decision. After being scapegoated, Smith might’ve told them all to kiss his ass.
Marchy, he seized his opportunity when the big dogs were out injured. Idk, why they gave him away. Guess they didn’t think he’d replicate the big production, and were leery of giving him big extension. Heard a few whispers about Marchy’s attitude, but heard them after the fact and wrote them off as rumors from those trying to justify their bad decision. Idk, I hate even thinking about the whole fiasco.

Taylor Hall is not a Buffalo Sabre if Ralph Krueger is not the head coach.

I like Girgs, but I don't feel this way. I think he was overpaid at 1.6m. There isn't much difference between him and the average replacement Lazar-like guy. Useful player, but I don't see why they paid such a premium.

Yea I mean I’m not sure if the Jet ever went back to Kingston or if that was just a pure coincidence.

So here's the scenario. The Sabres have 13 forwards, inc Cozens, Reinhart and Olofsson.

They've made it perfectly clear they want Eat-kids here. Same with Reider for PKing. Probably a 13th forward. They signed Lazar for two years to play in Buffalo. The 3 of them are not getting demoted.

So let's pretend they sign Haula. Where are they putting him, what's his role, since they want both Lazar/Reider and Eakin in the lineup?

I'm not saying what you, Hockeybuzz Poster, would do, I'm saying, with what the Sabres have already done in FA, why are they signing Haula.

I get all that, but they kept 8 skaters, and Pysyk was the clear 4th D. So they must have really disliked Smith's attitude. Seems weird then and weird now, as they could have gotten something for each of them.

we can question the first rd pick, but nobody is questioning what adams did in the second rd, by moving up and getting his man


trust me, I have been very vocal about my dismay for the sabres over the last 6 months, but right now given what has happened, there is no reason for anyone to be upset with what is going on


maybe botts just wasn't meshing with the owners and ralph


maybe kim and terry want ralph, long term to be upstairs between them and the gm and this is the training for that


all I know is they like gus for whatever reason and they landed hall


that's good enough for me given what has happened in the previous few off seasons


hall is clearly the best free agent we ever landed, even if he got hurt and never played a game


the sabres are now on the map with 1 simple addition that cost us no assets
