I am not a big Reinhart fan, I also don't get the constant bashing. He's a serviceable top 6 winger with good players. He is also the only established, for sure NHL right winger who has an okay track record in our lineup. That is very difficult to trade away. - Bufsaints8
Serviceable top 6 with good players
Okay track record in our lineup.
I agree.
Can you pay someone 6 or 7 million a year as a core player long term, with that resume. Some sammers were at 9 x 8 years.
5 millionish covid pricing - sure.
Your paying him as a 50 pointish player.
Leaves a void next to eichel absolutely, if we let him go.
Want him locked up 5 years after eichel quits - no way

IMO he is a top 6 or a top 3 - SABRES 89
So we agree top 6. I think he plays well with Eichel, they clearly have chemistry. He is a nice complementary player for that line. Not many other chances for him to play on a team in the NHL with a player like that on the top line for that organization. All the same, can't let him go because our lineup needs him. |

That’s ridiculous
But you’re on the other end of that teeter totter
There is a reasonable middle ground involving Sam
I hope we get there soon

Why would we trade our Sam RW for a Sam LW,C? Especially when ours is worth more. - Bufsaints8
Did you watch the playoffs? Sam b. Was a force.
If samson outprices us, and I heard calgary might move bennett?
There would have to be some more compensation, but say the arbitration gave reinhart 2 for 14 or 15 million?
Gotta think theres a breaking point ?

Bennett was good in a small sample size of this playoffs
A much larger sample size, their entire careers,
shows how much more valuable our Sam is
And it’s not even remotely close |

Sure 👍
Sign sam past eichels expiration date/ trade request possibility. Build around him.
O k p o s o c o n t r a c t. In the making
There is still a chance we suck and eichel wants out.
Eichel goes reinhart goes too. |

They both played their whole career on eichels line, so it's a super fair comparison. 🤔 |

Could they? That is a lot. Don't arbitrators look at recent deals too?
So you think that if Sam might get 7.5M a year by and arbitrator and Calgary must think this too, would Calgary even bother trading for him? Probs not. SO....it is a moot point. However, if YOU made that trade how the hell would you fill the right side of our lineup? Because that is the better question.
I don't think Sam gets that |

UGH, we have Eichel's rights for years....we are better already this year. WTF are you talking about? We are talking about making the team better and you are talking about ripping it apart. |

Bennet has had multiple chances in the top6,
& EVERY time he’s been bumped down the lineup
He’s a good 3rd line player, but that’s it
And it’s just a VERY lazy argument
Just bc 1 guy played with Jack, & the other didn’t,
doesn’t mean they have close to the same TRADE VALUE
Don’t let your bias get in the way of the obvious here |

I am all for this (See bolded)...I am completely against getting rid of your only legit RW for yet another LW and maybe okay center. Our lineup, as it currently sits, has no more room for that. Therefore, horrible hockey trade. |

99% of ppl in my experience are ordering
Long Islands & slamming them quickly to
try & get (frank)ed up
Those ppl are generally bumholes to deal with
I’ve explained all this before
Also... PBR & IPAs are delicious - jdfitz77
99% of your customers order long islands? Or 99% of people who order them do the other things you say? If the former, you work in a really weird place? |

Never in my life seen a bartender employee talk about his job so much....in the middle of the night on a hockey board...for years.
Then fight everyone, it’s obvious he’s slamming long islands that he makes in Cheektavegas cheap apartment alone. Sad to see, should get a job at wegmans or 7-11. |

I like Toffoli, but apples and Oranges. Hall is elite.
The issue is our forwards are a tire fire on defense, log jam on D, and the leagues worst goalie tandem.
Need a few more moves - sbroads24

thats what i am wondering.. are they taking into account Covid discounts. I think for sam there is no reason to sign a covid discount deal till they figure out how the arbitrators are dealing with that |

I projected the Sabres to have about 1.5M in cap space after going through Reinhart, Olofsson and Ullmark. I did 5.8, 3.85 and 2.25, respectively. I don't know if EW updated their projections post UFA and using COVID discounts (cong pls check).
Pre-trades. It would strongly behoove the Sabres to trade Ristolainen for assets and bring in Borgen. Adds 4M space, saves on salary, and you generally get the same thing from Borgen as you do from Risto as far as 5v5 effectiveness. Your 2nd PP unit becomes less effective with Montour running it instead of Risto, but it's a small price to pay. |

I would like to think so.
I mean they see the landscape of the NHL and the flat cap and the impact on NHL free agency.

I'm also a bit concerned, if that's the right word, that one of Reinhart or Olofsson (probably not Cozens but who knows) has to play with Eatkids

CapFriendly quotes the CB in stating that Arbitrators are required to EXCLUDE the economic conditions of the the Club and the League.
Furthermore, I read last year that current year FA signings are also outside the confines of what they are allowed to consider.. .I couldn't find that article in a quick 5 second search though.
So, no. |

Ouch - then they better try and sign them before it goes to arbitraion, like they did with Montour |
