It would seem that as a tandem what I said was correct, collectively they weren't the worst in the league if you look solely at expected goals against no? There were what I can tell at least two teams that had goalies as a tandem playing collectively worse within our own division. Do we need an upgrade, yes. Third time I've said it. Were they the worst in traditional stats or fancy stats? nope.
Also, still really irritating that we lost Cal Peterson for no reason and got no compensation while we had to give Pitt a 3rd round pick to hire their coach.. I'll never understand why those two rules coexisted simultaneously - SDSabre
Cal Peterson looks like a serious professional.
About to make a splash. hopefully concurrent with the Sabres re birth. Could really use him, fits with age, contract value and skills.

Hutton was 42nd in the NHL min 10 games in 5 on 5 sv%.
Ullmark was 10th.
The problem is each were well below replacment level in stopping high danger shots which Krueger limited with his system.
They also were terrible PK goalies. - sbroads24
Yep - well below average especially Hutton. How did Kuemper rank? |

Your kind words are really appreciated, truly.🤙
Unwantingly, I've had a lot of time on my hands since July.
I've been doing a lot of reading here, trying to stay up to date on this team and organization.
Some very intelligent posters here that know what they are talking about when it comes to this team and its future.
I appreciate them all.
I come here lurking when I want the latest information on this team.
I appreciate this board. - Over50
Yeah you can get some good stuff here, I have been off work since last September, nothing like you but have had 3 shoulder surgeries since then, so been on here a lot more than I used too. Some good people and conversations on here for the most part. |

Our goalie situation would look really good in the coming years:
Ullmark/Hutton
Peterson/Jonas
UPL/Other guy I'm blanking
Get rid of Hutton and see which cream rises to the top. |

Good post
Hope you get well soon and are to get back on track soon 👍
I for one, will try and lessen the argumentative approach to my posts. - Boss34
You guys are all passionate and well informed.
What we have here is a great group of fans that really know their stuff.
As a 50+ year fan, I know nothing compared to most of you when it comes this team.
A bunch of passionate blokes here is what I see.
Passionate, intelligent, opinionated blokes.
I enjoy reading all of the posts here for the most part.
Keep on keeping on Boss.
We are all guilty of being an overzealous passionate fool from time to time, myself included.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder.
But as I always say, things could be worse right?
🤞
And yes, absolutely many knowledgeable posters here.

See, I forgot all about Cal.
Thanks for reminding me.
How has he been doing the last while?
Does he appear to be an NHL netminder? |

Couple short runs with the big club, posted around 2.6 GAA both times with above .920 both times.. Good fancy stats. As long as Quick is around, my bet is they want him getting as many starts for the Reign as possible, but yeah he looks like a quality NHL starter. |

Top 6 FWD and a goalie being talked about coming from Calgary. - Pegullaville
I was thinking about this rumor ....... As much I want it to be Monahan. Based on the Flames god awful center depth. Getting rid of monahan for mitts would be a terrible idea.
The flames depth:
Monahan
Backlund
Sam Bennett
Derk Ryan
My guess its for Johnny Hockey at 6.75 million or Lindholm at 4.8 million.

Only way this goes through (Johnny H or Lindholm) is if Sam R is included back on the deal to Calgary.

Lindholm makes more sense for buffalo. He can play rw or c in the top 6. Can play rw this year and C next if stall leaves. |

Their fans are real high on him.. If management feels the same, would prolly cost more then we would want to part with. |

Touched on the PK.
And yeah, Ullmark was top half and Hutton would be top half for a back up.. My point was calling them the absolute worst tandem in the league was incorrect by almost all metrics.. because it's just undeniably false. - SDSabre
They are just about the worst tandem in the NHL in stopping scoring chances and on the PK, which is where a majority of goals come from.
They weren't anywhere near top half for starters or backups |
|
|

Montour and rhino for lindholm and hannifan. That would be good for both teams. |

Ullmark was 54th in the NHL in high danger save % among goalies with 10+ starts
Hutton was 42nd
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a worse pair |

10th amd 41st. 10th being top 3rd of the first 31 and 41 being in the top 3rd of 32 to 62. Need to be better on the PK for sure, and yeah an upgrade would be nice. The notion that they were the worst goalie tandem in the league is a farce, that's all I was saying. poop, Mon had a worse tandem as Price played the majority of games and had worse fancy and traditional stats. |

If you go back a couple pages. Some guy with a source who called botts getting fired the day before.
Said the Sabres flames are talking again.
